Babies: 9 - 12 Months

10 month old down to 1 nap?

DD recently put herself on a 1 nap per day schedule. Up until 2 weeks ago she'd be up at 6:30, nap from 9:30/10-11/12, then nap again for another hour around 2/3. So it ended up vein about 3 hrs of day sleep. We've moved in the last couple. Weeks and needed my mom to watch her more while finishing the move. Since the, she's started only taking 1 3-hr nap from 11:30/12.

Should I try to reinstate her two naps? Or just go with it? I know between 12-18 months babies. Transition to one nap; is she just doing this early?

Re: 10 month old down to 1 nap?

  • My girls have been only taking one nap for about a month now.  It was very frustrating a first.  They wake up at about 7 a.m., nap from 10-10:30 to about 1, go to bed at 7, and they STTN.  When they first started taking only 1 nap, they'd get fussy around 5, clearly ready for a nap, but that was way too late for a nap and too early for bed. So we just toughed it out and now they don't get fussy at that time and are very ready for bed come 7 p.m.  We used to put DD1 down for bed at 7 and the babies down at about 7:30.  Now DD1 stays up til almost 8.  It just worked for us because DD1 was ready for a little later bed time.

  • Kendall also only  naps once a day during the week while she is at daycare.  However, usually she will take 2 at home on the weekends.  I guess we're boring compared to having some many other babies to play with at daycare. :)
