diaper genie question

We had a hand me down diaper champ for DD that we threw out a while ago so now we need a new thing. Our diaper champ did NOT keep out odors well so we'd rather try a new thing.

Our local consignment store has a Diaper Genie for $17...good deal? or not?

I asked if it's the original, 2, essentials or elite system (Why are there so many kinds?) and the lady said that it doesn't say anything different on it so she assumes it's the original. I haven't looked at it yet but just wondering what you all thought. Should I get it or just buy a new one?

BRU has the Diaper Genie Essentials for $21. Since it's only a $4 difference I feel like I should get the new one since if there is a problem or something I'll be able to return/exchange it. WWYD?

    I think I have the elite. It only smells if it's full...or if there's a few poopy diapers it. I change it every other day. I use regular trash bags. Take the top off, push the bag through the pedal inside, hang it over the edge and put the top back on. Works well for us, we got it for free, though. I don't know if I would have paid $17 for it. If I bought anything else, I'd make sure I can use regular trash bags instead of those stupid refills.

    I just got the BRU pail for about $25 with tax. it's on sale right now for 20%. It works like this one but ours is obviously unused right now. I've heard mixed things about the diaper genie and heard the better bet is diaper champ. the BRU is basically like the champ.
