Hello ladies as you all can see I'm 39 weeks, and 4 or 5 days today. I'll be 40 weeks on Thursday my due date the only thing is I would like to have the baby before July 13th or 14th. I was wondering what helped bring on labor for some of you ladies?
Re: Looking for natural ways to induce labor?
I walked alot in the 3 days before I delivered. I'm not sure if it helped or not. But I also had early labor signs. I was 2 cm and 70% effaced on Thursday and started slowly losing my mucous plug on Saturday. It was memorial day weekend and we walked and walked. I went into labor on memorial day and she was born that night. The walking definitely helped while I was in labor. The contractions were less painful when I was moving vs. when I was still.
Good luck. The only way walking and other things will help is if your body is ready. If your body isn't ready, it won't do a thing but drive you crazy
I was just in the same boat as you! I ended up having my little girl naturally at 40+6 - but I tried everything in the book to get her out. The EPO, red raspberry leaf tea, squats, etc and I was 0 cm 50% effaced the whole time literally until labor started.
I did acupuncture for the 4 weeks leading up to my due date and while I'm not completely sure if it helped induce labor, she was in the perfect laboring position and dropped pretty comfortably for me which I do think was due to the acupuncture.
The last couple of days I walked A LOT...actually almost too much. I ended up swelling in the heat after a 2.5 mile walk and when I went to the doc the next day I still hadn't made any progress and my BP was up so I'm not sure it was worth it. When you DO go into labor, and you will
...that's when the walking helps! In all honesty what I think helped the most (and I am not alone on this one...you've read it a thousand times) is SEX! DH and I had sex the morning my contractions started and everything happened very quickly after. MP out, bloody show, etc...
Unfortunately I am now a believer that your body will do it on it's own! Go have some fun with your DH and I'll be thinking about you.
