Max is here! birth story

Max was born on June 22 (due date was 7/1/2012) after my water unexpectedly broke at 2:45. I was at a DR appt that morning at 10:30 and DR said I was only dilated a fingertip, so this was a total surprise. I didn't have contractions right away so I took a shower and doubled checked my bag and we left to drop of my daughter at MIL's. As we were driving to the hospital the contractions started and went from nothing to extremely painful really quick. After I was admitted into L&D I labored naturally until about 6 when I got the epidural and was 3 cm. It only worked on one side at first so they had me lay on my other side and it started to work. At shift change (7:20) the new nurse checked me and was like um you are ready to push! We waited for the doctor and then I pushed for about 20 minutes and Max was born at 8:25!

I can not believe what a different labor and delivery this was compared to my first. I labored for over 40 hours with my first and pushed for over an hour and ended up needing vacuum extraction and an episiotomy. I also felt extreme pressure and pain even though I had the epidural. I had a much more pleasant experience this time and the recovery has been a billion times better this time too!
