in 1st Trimester

With our first LO we went to build a bear and made a dog for our first gift to our new baby. We got the idea from a stuffed animal dog my husband had from when he was a little boy. We figured it would be an awesome gender neutral keepsake we could get the baby and carry on a sort of tradition. Now that we are pregnant again we are already planning our trip to build a bear again for a few days after our first doctors visit. 

So, my question for all you wonderful ladies is what sort of traditions do you have when it comes to having a new baby, or what ones you are planning to start?

    We don't have any yet, as this is our 1st, but you've certainly given me something to think about!! Maybe we'll have to begin one...

    I keep a journal for each of my kids.  As soon as I find out Im pregnant I start a new one and include all symptoms, ultrasound pics, and then all the firsts they have ( turning over, sitting up, crawling etc)  and then as the years go by I just write down little things that I feel are memorable or that they'd like to know about when they're older.  I also keep a personal journal to track symptoms etc. to compare to future pregnancies.

    sort of.  when we went on our baby moon I swiped a blanket from the hotel room, brought it to the hospital with me and it will be O's someday.  We may do a baby moon again with this pg and I will do the same, if the blanket is something nice.  

    nice that my tradition involves theft...  

    I also bought a big fluffy comfy blanket for before he was born and that's his car blanket in the winter.  I hope to find a similar one for #2.

    This is pretty awesome. I wish I was persistant enough to remember to write everything down. I have a few journal entries from my first, but I do still have all of the u/s pics. I have started somewhat of a journal now, but it is more of what I want to ask the doctor and things I am worried about. But this is awesome. I know I enjoy seeing and reading the things my mom has from when I was little.

    well, this actually started with DH and I.... he's always gotten me teddy bears for special occasions, so we've decided we're going to get our kids teddy bears, too... and we are going to ask others to get them any OTHER kind of stuffed animal if they wish to get them stuffed animals.

    I've started keeping a journal that I write in every night. Each entry starts "Dear Baby." I'm still debating about whether or not I'll give it to future LO, but I might someday. I just like the idea of recording this special time in my life

     I think your LO would like seeing it in the future. It is neat to know what sort of things happened before you can remember.
