Me ![]()
Kate loves to swing in her swing at the incline position. Lately she's been trying to eat her hands, so she started bending forward to get them. Until that point, I never strapped her in because she wasn't that "mobile". I immediately told DH that we really need to start strapping her in because one day she'll fall out. Common sense, right? We've now made sure to strap her in at all times.
Yesterday...It's dinner time, and Kate fell asleep on me. I proceed to put her in the swing sans straps because she was actually sleeping, which is rare because she doesn't sleep in there. I walk into the kitchen to start boiling water, and I hear her start to fuss. I peak in, her eyes are still closed, and she's not moving. I continue to get things ready for dinner, and she starts to cry (a little soft cry). I walk in to the living room to soothe her, and I find her underneath the swing on the floor! I couldn't believe my eyes. She wasn't hysterical, thank goodness, but I felt HORRIBLE! It didn't even phase her that she fell, and she was all smiles afterwards, but again, I felt like a terrible mother.
I vow to strap her into everything, even if she's sleeping. It literary took 2 minutes for that incident to happen.

A15 January Siggy Challenge-
Don't feel bad, this exact thing happened to me! I've posted about it before, but I used to put DD in her swing swaddled all the time when she was sleeping, the swing wasn't in motion or anything so I think of it like a bed. Well, I fell asleep on the couch watching her one day (she was sleeping, swaddled, in the swing) and I woke up to crying and she was on the floor!! I couldn't believe she fell out, swaddled!! Houdini baby, I tell ya.
These kinds of things will happen, but it sounds like she is OK, DD is perfectly fine as well. I totally cried and felt awful, even after she had stopped crying, but it's been a month now and I'm getting over it.
glad she's ok!!
I'm staring at Kira sleeping in her swing unbuckled... debating on if i should wake her to fasten her in!
