Alright ladies...I need your suggestions. I am miserable right now & am about to get a bit graphic but I am desperate ![]()
It has been 9 days since I have had a BM & I am super uncomfortable. The bloat alone makes me look 6 mos pregnant. On top of the prescription prenatals, I started taking Zofran last week for the m/s (which causes constipation) & have been taking Colace & Mirilax everyday (per Dr's oders) for the last week & it hasn't produced anything. I can produce a couple of little "pebbles" but it takes work to even do that. I stopped taking the Zofran 2 days ago hoping it would help but no luck.
I need some natural remedies that have worked for you ladies who have been in this same situation. At this point I am willing to try anything. I see my OB on Friday so will talk to her about it if I haven't gone by then but in the meantime, I need to try something.
Please help...

Re: Constipation woes
I switched from zofran to phenegran (way better at helping with m/s anyway but it makes you a little drowsy so I only take it at night and it lasts about 12 hours) and that helped me. Also, my doctor recommended drinking one 8 ounce cup of coffee a day to help things getting moving, (I stopped once it did) and I do colace around the clock and drink lots of water.
I think the coffee help me getting things back on the right track.

Oy! I had some constipation during 1st tri but nothing bad like yours! And I didn't have m/s so no zofran for me.
What I did was drink TONs of water every day, made sure I ate TONS of fruits & veggies every single meal, added 2 teaspoon of wheat bran to my breakfast granola. All these things helped. Once I got to 2nd tri, I added back 1/2 cup of coffee in the am and the coffee works wonders. GL!

Okay, this is kind of gross but...
I love pepperoncini - to the point of where I've eaten an entire jar before! I know...gross. Anyway, there is something about eating all these spicy peppers that REALLY cleans out the system. So if you're desperate I highly recommend these!

Lost baby #2 at nearly 12 weeks (D&C on 9/19/14)
I can understand where you are at. I was in the hospital in January for a week (not constipation or pregnancy related) and I didn't have a BM for 12 days! I am irregular to begin with but this was a long time. After trying all of the hospitals remedies this is what worked for me:
1) Acidophilus (not sure on spelling) but it helps keep your itestines healthy - I was also told by my naturopath tha this is good during pregnancy to help with the babies potential allergies/immune system
2) Drink LOTS of water
3) Bake bran muffins and try eating All Bran bran buds (a lot less sugar than all bran bars/raisin bran) for breakfast
4) Cut out all dairy products (except yogurt - the cultures are good) until you've had a BM
Good luck!!!!
