Everyone will answer that question differently. With DD I gave up caffeine all together, with DS I had one or two coffees a week, this time I have 3-4 coffees a week and alternate other days with decaf. My doctor says 1 cup a day is totally fine.
My doctor told me it was fine to have one to two caffeinated drinks a day. Most doctors say 150-200mg of caffeine a day in pregnancy is fine! I hope your headaches go away soon! I've never been a caffeine person but I know my cousin gets really bad headaches when she stops coffee.
I drink up to 24oz of diet soda a day (some days I drink 32oz). It's about 82mg of caffeine a day and I discussed this with my OB. He's cool with it. Everyone has different opinions on it, but I am a caffeine addict and it's not going anywhere any time soon.

I drink a cup of halfcaff coffee in the morning. It wakes me up and still allows me to have a soda or tea later on without coming close to my 200mg allotment!

Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?...But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:26-27&33-34
My body NEEEDS 2 cups of coffee a day to function. I drank that much with both my girls and they are just about perfect. I plan to do the same again with #3.
Starbucks caffeine content (I'd assume it's pretty similar at other coffee shops):
1 shot of espresso has 75 mg (any tall espresso drink)
2 shots has 150 mg (any grande espresso drink or a hot vent drink)
3 shots 225 mg (iced venti drink)
[Americanos are different though - tall has 2 shots, grande 3 and venti have 4 shots (whether hot or iced 300 mg)]
Plain coffee is the most caffeinated item (per ounce) on the Starbucks menu. [This doesn't include iced coffee. Ice coffee has about half the content of hot coffee because of the way it's brewed and iced.]
Any drink at Starbucks can be made decaf or half-caf including frappuccinos but excluding chai tea lattes.
[Chai tea - tall has about 60 mg, grande about 80 and venti about 100 mg (iced about 120 mg)]
Re: Is caffeine once a day to much?
*lurking*
When I was pregnant with my son I had caffeine everyday and he turned out fine. You should be good
I've heard the same thing as Shelifranks.
I had a coke a day with DD and we were both fine
I drink a cup of black tea in the morning or a small cup of coffee. It works really well to keep headaches away!
THIS! I had one caffeinated drink a day with my last pregnancy and I'll do it again with this one. My daughter if perfect and healthy!

It's all about the specifics. One drink isn't considered too much unless it has more than 200 mg of caffeine in it!
