Slightly concerned.

This was just so strange, I wanted to hear anyones thoughts.

I went to the Doctors yesterday for an ultrasound, everything looked great, HB was 185 b/pm, s/he was waving Big Smile

after I left the doctors, I started feeling very tired, and I got chills... I went home and I realized I had a fever, didn't check it with a thermometer, and I couldn't get ahold of my doctors to see if i could take anything to lower it...This was at about 7 p.m., the fever finally broke at 3:30 this morning...I called my doctor but I couldn't get an appointment until tomorrow morning. I feel completely normal now.

Anyone else ever have anything like this?

Re: Slightly concerned.

  • I haven't but just wanted to let you know that you can take Tylenol (1, 2 & 3) during pregnancy.  My RE told me this at my last appt.

  • I just had the flu last week, which included a fever that lasted about 24 hours until I finally broke down and took some Tylenol to lower it. Tylenol is on my list of "safe meds" from my OB, and honestly I wish I'd taken it sooner.

    Dear Baby Pacheco...
  • It's possible your body fought off whatever was coming on.  It's actually best not to treat a fever because it's your body's response to something invading it (bacteria, virus, whatever).  If you don't artificially lower your fever and you let your body do what it needs to your "illness" will often be a lot shorter in duration.

You would still want to watch what your temperature is becuase fever during pregnancy can be dangerous to baby.

  • Yeah, it just sounds like your body was fighting off a virus.

This is a very good point.  I agree with PPs that your body was probably fighting off an illness.  When pregnant I might take tylenol t reduce a fever around 101 or higher, but otherwise I have noticed that I fight things off much quicker with no meds.

  • I agree with everyone else it was probably a virus, always Tylenol never Motrin or ibuprofen it can cause bleeding.

  • I appreciate the feedback, thanks ladies!   Smile
  • I would check next time if you think you have a fever. Hormone changes can cause shakes & chills so it's best to make sure. I've gotten shaky a few times but no chills.
