When I was pregnant with my son, I had hyperemesis gravidarum and was pretty much resigned to dealing with it again during this pregnancy. I was in and out of the hospital with dehydration and everything about our lives for the first 20 weeks was totally in upheaval, so this time I made some preparations just in case.
I have some nausea here and there, and I threw up last week, but lately it's been smooth sailing! I'm not worried about the pregnancy (we saw a heartbeat and my levels are great - skyrocketing, actually!) but this is just so hard for me to believe.
I know that every pregnancy is different, and things don't go the same each time, and that sickness could still be on its way, yadda yadda. I just have a hard time reconciling in my brain that I can go from such an extreme condition to literally nothing.
Anyone else?
Re: Anyone else have hyperemesis with one pregnancy and not the next?
I didn't have hyperemesis, but I had persistent vomiting 2-3x day most days of the week.
This time I have had one episode of vomiting, but persistent nausea.
As much as I hate vomiting, some days I wish I could to get rid of the nausea, because other than vomiting, I had had mostly felt okay. Oh well.
Thanks, but there's still time. I might not be lucky for long!
Oops, didn't notice you're ticker. Mine started right before/at 7wks both times. Here's hoping you avoid it this time!
PP - do you remember when yours started? Mine started within a few days of me getting my BFP each time. LO is due two days before DD was due two years ago, so it's really easy for me to track and compare symptoms. With her the vomiting and nausea started at 5 weeks 1 day...so my fingers are crossed that it stays like this for me! Good luck to you also!!...we are close in due dates!
Hi! With my son (when I had HG) it started at exactly 6 weeks and reached its worst at 13 weeks. This time, the slight nausea I've had also started at 6 weeks but it seems to have taken a break...now I'm kind of scared of a second wave.
You probably know this but if you're not lucky and it does start, make sure you get treatment right away. Last time, I was unmedicated till 15wks and lost a bunch of weight and it took me a long time to get stable. This time, as soon as a tossed my cookies, I got started on meds and, although I still feel like crap 100% of the time and still throw up at least once a day, I can at least eat and drink a moderate amount and hope to stay hydrated and keep my weight stable this time.
