Anyone adopt a child (not infant) through private agency?

DH and I would like to adopt a child 1-3 years old through a private agency. It seems that most agencies only do domestic infant.  Ive tried to contact our local foster center to find out about it and have been having no luck.  If we could do this through a private agency, it seems easier.  The CA foster car system seems so messed up. So has anyone adopted an older child through a private agency? if so, may I ask what agency?

    I haven't done this, but our agency (Catholic Charities) has both domestic infant and adoption (of children who have already had their parental rights terminated) from foster care.  The program is called Finally Home.  Check with your local private agencies to see if they have a similar program.
