If you have purchased a crib or know what you'll purchase come in

I apologize if I missed this thread but can we share what cribs we are buying?  SIL is really pushing for Baby's Dream Next Generation Cribs but the nearest retailer is about an hour from our place.  They dont seem to be that popular which is not a problem but it does make me wonder. What are you thinking in this department?

  • We got an IKEA crib because of great safety ratings and awesome price.  It's simple-looking, but we were definitely more concerned with safety and budget than looks.

  • We went with Graco Laurens, good ratings ,and easy on the wallet considering we needed 2.

  • We are actually getting the same crib that DS has, from JCPenny. It converts to a toddler bed and then a full size with the head and foot board.  This LO and DS will share a room so it's just easier to get the same crib

  • I'm planning on the Europa Baby Palisades crib, mostly because I'm 5'0" and it hits me right at the hip. Many cribs dig into my ribs when I reach in. But I want to go back to the store and ask them to show it to me on all 3 mattress settings.

  • We got the Carter's heritage convertible crib in antique white. Pretty budget-friendly and nice
  • We are using DD's crib and moving her to a new room.  She has a DaVinci Emily crib.  It has held up great and still looks brand new.

  • We're getting one of the Storkcraft cribs with an attached changer--had good reviews on amazon.

  • We just ordered the Mix Built to Grow Encore crib by Young America by Stanley.  You can customize colors, so ours is a walnut/natural wood combo.  I LOVE it!  Here's what it looks like in our color combo:

  • We did the Graco Somerset collection from Target. We did it 1) because it had good reviews and 2) it was cheap! Since we were buying 2 cribs, the $150 a pop sounded pretty darn good to us :)

  • we got a Sorelle for DD1 and a Bonavita for DD2. Oddly they look almost exactly alike so we got them in different colors to try to be a little original. We debated on getting DD2 a different one but all the other styles were more expensive and at the time we were shopping DH had JUST gotten laid off so we were trying to be really budget conscious. I still like them a lot, I just thought it was odd that they are two different brands, bought 3 years apart in totally different parts of the state (we moved) and they look exactly the same!

  • We have a DaVinci crib.  I can't remember which one it is exactly, but we got it on sale at Target 2.5 years ago.  I believe it was under $200.  I really like it.

    Ditto this.

Here's the Sundvik crib we purchased. It wasn't too hard to put together and it's very sturdy.

The main selling point was the fact that the mattress raises for the younger years so short moms like me can reach the little one!

We bought the Graco Lauren as well.

  • We have the Delta Eclipse from Target.  I love it and it still looks new.  It is a convertible crib but we plan to move DD into a big girl bed and let LO have the crib.

  • DS has a Munire Essex crib, which is a "lifetime" crib (converts to toddler bed & eventually a full-size bed, and we already have the conversion rails).  But we realized the other day while looking at cribs for this LO that the size of the bedrooms in our house doesn't really allow for full-size beds if we want anything else in the room.  So, we decided that when DS is done with the crib/toddler bed, his crib will either become a full in a guest room (if we've moved to another house by then) or go into storage until we have a bigger house, and we'll buy him a twin bed.  So, we're not buying a "lifetime" crib for DD - we're either going to get a mini-crib that converts to a twin, or the Ikea crib that converts to a toddler bed only (about half the price of the mini-crib) and then buy her nice furniture when she's ready for the twin bed.

  • My parents paid for the crib, and we ended up going with a recommendation from the Baby Bargains book - the Bedford Baby Tribeca Crib in Chocolate Mist from JC Penney.  Because ummm apparently "chocolate mist" is a color now?  LOL.  Anyway, it is a $400 crib but my MIL works at Penney's so she got 30% off!  Great deal!  :)  I haven't put it together yet but ZOMG the box is huge so surely it's sturdy.  :)

  • My In laws purchased the crib and matching furniture for DS's new big boy room. We got the Carters manchester lifetime converter crib in Dark cherry. And DS got a new twin bed and a nightstand a highboy dresser and a dresser with a mirror for the kids new bedroom. Even though we did not purchase the bedroom furniture and the crib at the same store we were able to just about match it perfectly.

  • I think we're getting the oeuf sparrow, which my in laws are very kindly getting us.
