1st Trimester

Is anyone having Reflux issues?

I have this lingering lump in my throat that I keep assuming is sinus, but the more it last the more it feels like reflux. Is that possible? Anyone else and what do you do for it?

  • Funny you mentioned this because I was just about to post the same thing!  Everything I read says acid reflux comes in the second trimester.  I'm only in week 6 and I'm pretty sure I have GERD (I think it's a type of acid reflux).  I feel like I swallowed a piece of food that won't quite go down, and I know there's no food stuck in there, so it's a really weird uncomfortable feeling.  I get chest pain along with it (maybe heartburn?).  I had this the last 4 days minus yesterday where I ate very small meals throughout the day, instead of normal sized meals.  And no lying down right after eating also helped.

  • I've been having acid reflux a lot too.... wasn't sure if it was pregnancy related or not b/c i kind of already used to get it, but it had gone away recently, but it came back shortly after I got pregnant

  • I am 5 weeks tomorrow and have had indigestion since my IUI on the 7th it seems!! lol..

I have been burping like crazy. I am a new fan of tums and have NEVER liked them before. Hopefully this goes away!

  • Yes, it's absolutely terrible!  I didn't have it this bad last time until the third trimester!  I can't even lie down at night - I have three pillows!  You can either eat Tums like they are candy or take some zantac.  I go for the tums during the day and allow myself a zantac 150 treat at night. :)

  • Me too! It's how I knew I was pregnant before the stick turned pink.

I take a Zantac 75 daily in the morning and then chew a few Tums in the evenings as it wears off. I should probably switch to the Zantac 150 but I am trying to hold off as long as I can in case I need to up the dose later in pregnancy.
