HCG Levels at 8 weeks.

I've been spotting so I went to the emergency room Saturday. They did an ultrasound and it showed that I was 7 weeks 5 days and there was a heart beat. I should have been 8 weeks 5 days though. I chart and got myBFP at 9 DPO so I know that I should be 8  weeks 5 days, definitely not 7 weeks 5 days. My betas Saturday were 14,000 and today they were 16,000. They are doing them again Wednesday, but I'm so nervous. I'm not even close to doubling and I feel like my levels should be way higher by now, even if I'm only 8 weeks and not 9. Has anyone else had betas that didn't double? Or this low of betas at 8 weeks?

    I had heard that over 1200 the betas don't double nearly as quickly anymore, and that the double times really matters in those first few days. 

    Either way lots of T&Ps for you (and so awesome you got to hear the heartbeat!!)

    Why are they doing betas if they did an ultrasound? betas won't really tell you much at this point - they would be better doing a follow up ultrasound to check growth on Wednesday instead.

    I don't know. I'm so frustrated though. I asked if they were going to do another ultrasound and the nurse said that he didn't want to do one until after my beta on Wednesday. He doesn't want to "stir" anything up, she said.

    I'm trying to be positive since my cervix was closed and we saw a heartbeat, it's just so hard when everything I read on the internet is doom and gloom. I probably just need to relax and get off google. There isn't anything I can do about it anyway.

    This is very true. It's hard, but if you're making yourself more worried by googling, then step away from it. There is absolutely nothing you can do right now to change the outcome of the pregnancy (excluding things like hard drugs). 

    Have they scheduled another u/s for after the beta on Wednesday? Or are they waiting to see what the beta is and then go from there? 


    BFP1: DD1 born April 2011 at 34w1d via unplanned c/s due to HELLP, DVT 1 week PP
    BFP2: 3/18/12, blighted ovum, natural m/c @ 7w4d
    BFP3: DD2 born Feb 2013 at 38w4d via unplanned RCS due to uterine dehiscence

    They are waiting to see what the beta is. I am stepping away from google and trying to remind myself I saw the heartbeat and I am pregnant right now. Thank you!

    I've never had beta levels drawn after 6 weeks, so I'm not sure how your numbers compare.

    I agree with pp; at this point, the u/s is the best way to monitor the baby. Also, since your scan was done in the ER, I wouldn't worry about the EDD discrepancy. Hopefully, your next u/s will be more reassuring.
