I just read the snoogle post and considering that I am at 8 weeks now, should I be side sleeping now? I'm a tummy sleeper, so it shouldn't be too hard of a transition, but I'd like to get in the habit of side sleeping.
What are y'all doing?

I always side sleep. *shrugs* But I can't sleep on my right side because my hip always gets crampy :0( Oh the joys of pregnancy!!
If you knew how lonely my life has been
And how long I've been so alone
And if you knew how I wanted someone to come along
And change my life the way you've done
Just switch when its no longer comfotable to sleep on your stomach. No point in messing with your sleep before then. You'll have plenty of time when you have no choice but to side sleep.
Edited to add: I don't understand this mentality that you want to do it ASAP to get adjusted. There will be a period of adjustment no matter when you switch. Why force that to take place any earlier or the period of less than ideal sleeping position to last any longer than necessary?
I am a tummy sleeper, but once I found out, I switched. I wanted to get in the habit ASAP so it wouldn't feel so wierd. I use a long pillow to place between my legs and this helps.
Switch whenever you don't feel comfortable on your stomach anymore. You don't have to switch anytime soon.
I slept on my back until the end of my pregnancy last time and that's a no-no. I would go to sleep on my side, but without fail I would wake up on my back. Just listen to your body and sleep how you fee most comfortable.
You'll know when its time. At 8wks you can definitely still sleep on your belly. When you start feeling like there is a football under you when you lay down, then move to your side

When I was pregnant w/DD I slept sort of on my stomach until delivery, my OB told me to that as long as I was comfortable it was fine, it's more important to avoid sleeping on your back.
I'm currently 5 weeks with this one and still a belly sleeper and intend to contiue

Agree, no need to change until you're uncomfortable
At this point it's all about being comfortable. I'm sleeping however I want (mostly on stomach). But, when my baby belly comes in I'll adjust to be comfortable.

This exactly. The baby is about the size of a kidney bean at 8 weeks, and even if you are anorexic skinny you have plenty of padding between the baby and the bed-the bean is not getting squished at this point. Keep stomach sleeping until it's not comfortable any more-trust me the kid will let you know when it's time!

This. Sleep however you can now, because I remember it getting pretty darn uncomfortable the last time I was pregnant.
I am a stomach sleeper too and was worried about this. I was going to ask the Dr when I went. My gf told me about not sleeping on my back. Havent looked it up yet but what is the reason??
I will be getting one of those big pillows to help me sleep on side because i DO NOT find it comfortable!!

I'm a back/side sleeper. I sleep better on my left side with a pillow wedged up against my back and between my knees though.
This is how I sleep too. I get in bed on my back while I am "getting drowsy" and roll to my left side right before I fall asleep.

you don't have to switch until its uncomfortable to sleep on your stomach. I slept on my stomach well past 20 weeks with DS. He's just fine.
