I think its such a beautiful name.  DH veoted it because we had a Nicole in our lives that he doesn't like. 
together since 2006
full time stepmom to SS1 and SS2 since 2010
married since 2011

TTC since 7/2011 (no planned bc since 2008)
HSG 11/2011: one blocked tube
S/A 2/2012 and retest S/A 3/2012: normal
Bloodwork: normal
2nd HSG 5/2012: clear
Femara cycle 5mg #1 7/14/12 + IUI #1 7/23/12 = bfn
New RE appt 8/14/12
IVF #1 meds 8/30/12. ER 9/14/2012: 7 retrieved, 6 fertilized. ET 9/19/12: 1 perfect embryo 5dt.

    If DH vetoed it then it would be off the list IMO. I'm not a fan to be honest.  It has a masculine feel to me, because of Nikola Tesla.

    When I lived in the UK, Nicola was a pretty common girl name. I don't mind it but, like pp mentioned, I actually prefer it as a male name like Nikola Tesla.

    Yup...I used to live in the UK as well and it is pretty popular there.

    Ditto this. But once people know that's her name, I don't think it's an association that would stick. How about Nicca? I went to school with a girl named this (pronounced Nee-ka) and when I saw the title of your post it made me think of her name. Her family all had cool names (Jakin and Carise were her sibs) It's cute, a bit different than usual, but not a doozy to spell.explain etc. Maybe it's just different enough that your DH will dig it?

    Agree with PPs that it sounds like Ricola, and it looks like you are trying too hard to give a normal name a twist.

    This exactly. I like Nicolette much better (although it sort of reminds me of Nicorette Gum).

    i like it, but I went to school with a Nicola.  She was always correcting teachers who called her Nicole-a.
