Acupuncture and Tattoos. {2 separate questions mentioned}

So first thing is first, my father is a sales rep for the local hospitals {teehee, he sells joints - knees & hips} and has gotten really close with a few doctors.

One of the doctors has been studying acupuncture for a really long time and works on others here and there, but has never actually had a practice. It never dawned on my father that it might help me until he was talking to a co-worker today. She was mentioning that her daughter was having trouble getting pregnant, went to see their doctor friend for acupuncture and got pregnant. That got my father all excited and he had to call me right up! He's going to talk to the doctor and set up a time where we can go and speak with him.

But, i'm just wondering what I can expect. How many times did you go? When during your cycle did you go? Any other details you wish you would have known first?

Now for the tattoo questions.

I'm going to see my tattoo guy tomorrow and getting dragonflies on my wrist. Would you get colored or do you think just black is better? I can't really make up my mind on what I want. If it's colored i'm getting one pink and one green. Or at least the wings will be colored.

I'm also going to talk with him then about getting Aurora's footprints at another date {in the butterfly form that's in my siggy}. The problem is, and the reason I haven't got it done yet, is because I cannot figure out where I want it.

I already have a simple daisy on my right foot that I got when I was 18.

I'd like her footprints where I can see them. I'd like them life size too, which will be about 2 and a half inches by 2 and a half inches.

Any suggestions on the placement? I've been thinking of my left ankle, or even between my ankle and the top of my foot. But would that look weird with the daisy on my right?

Or would her footprints be better on my wrist {even though it would take up my WHOLE wrist} and the dragonflies around my daisy?

There have actually been a few studies (I've heard, not read) that have been fairly well done and have shown some great success with acupuncture (though coupled with IVF in the studies I think).

The first lady I saw was probably a good warm up for me as I'm not a huge fan of needles (so I'm going to be no help on your tattoo dilema). I've switched to a new gal I saw once the cycle I was pregnant the longest (my normal girl was booked the day of ET) and honestly feel that seeing her made a pretty big difference.

Most girls say the feel great after an acu appointment and I never really felt that much better with the first girl I saw, totally different store with my new lady. So maybe keep that in mind? I hope you enjoy it!

My only thought on the tattoo is I've seen some wicked awful reactions on some that got tattoos with colored dye...so I vote no color. I'm a chemist with a heavy dose of biology in my training and you are introducing a poison into your system when you get tattooed, so be careful!

I don't know much about acupunture but I've heard it helps some people. GL!

As far as the tattoo..

I'd get the dragonflies black and gray with maybe a subtle hint of color in the wings.

Also I think Aurora's Footprints would look great on your foot, or between your foot and ankle.. like you said. I love the idea.

Honestly, I tried acupuncture and for me it was a waste of money. I tried everything and honestly what "worked" was IVF. But I understand that acupuncture can make you relax and that can aid in getting pregnant, which is why they want IVF patients to do it. If it will be free, there is no harm in trying, honestly. Best of luck hon. I am hoping that you get that BFP soon. Hugs!

I hope you don't mind me popping in, but I'm passionate about acupuncture as I believe it played a HUGE role in helping me get pregnant. I started seeing the doctor in January (mid) while I was doing a medicated cycle with the RE. We didn't get pregnant that month, but the next cycle (unmedicated) we did! I went once a week consistently. I love going - it's so relaxing and helped calm my nerves. If you get the chance to go, I'd definitely recommend it.

I don't have any suggestions for the tattoos, but I love both ideas and I'm sure they'll turn out beautifully.

i love acupuncture and got pregnant with it (lost the baby though). i went every week for 3 months. it is super relaxing. it doesnt hurt unless you move when the points are in. i cant wait to go back. we moved so i need to find a new acupuncturist.

she also did points for my knee pain and headaches and i havent had knee pain in like 6 months and i have had it since i was 16

I have no answers on the acupuncture. But for the tattoos, I really like the idea of the dragonflies around the daisy! That would be so cute! And I think for sure colored! As for the butterfly, I know you said you wanted to see it, but what about the back of one of your shoulders? I have a remembrance tattoo for my brother there and I can look over my shoulder and see it and of course see it in the mirror. For the size, I think that is a good place. But I also think it would be cute on your foot also, but do think it would look weird to have it on one foot with the daisy on the other. So maybe if you don't like the shoulder idea, have it done on the same foot as the daisy? I'm sure your tattoo artist could find a really nice way to tie it in with the daisy.
