Avoiding drinking/avoiding answering questions...

What are you all doing?  Saying?

We go next week on vacation with MH's family - it's usually a drinking affair :) most of the week.  However, it's going to be hard to avoid the questions and eye brow raises when we are all staying together.  But we really don't want to let the cat out of the bag until we see u/s and see everything is healthy and viable the following week.

Re: Avoiding drinking/avoiding answering questions...

  • Dump out the beer from a bottle and put water in it. I have done that a few times and it has worked fine.

At a bar sneak up and talk to the bar tender and order a N/A drink that looks like a regular cocktail.

This is my plan for the wedding we're going to next weekend. :)

  • Claim that you recently had a really wild night, where you got really wasted and were super hungover the next day. Since that horrible experience, you can't even think about drinking without feeling sick. Might even work to hide any m/s you may have.

  • I used the "I'm taking an antibiotic" excuse at the last wedding I was at. I have been on ones where you cannot drink, and my friends bought it. I have also claimed headaches as well.

  • Have your dh make you mixed drinks of seltzer and cranberry. I drank those at a wedding 2weeks ago.

  • Yeah at a wedding a few weeks ago I kept ordering diet cokes with limes at the bar. If I went to the bar with a friend, I'd order a real drink and then leave it on the table or something and go dance. By the time I got back, the waitstaff already took the drink and my husband would fetch me another one, sans alcohol.

I did this too....the bartender was really cool about it and said it happens all the time!

  • Have a "mixed" drink (I did this last weekend for a party, I drank out of a plastic cup drinks I had pretended to mix, but it was really just water!) Dump out a bottle and fill it with something similar looking. Pretend to drink the same thing as your husband and just keep switching drinks back and forth. He'll get twice as drunk but it helps if someone else is getting you the drinks!
  • I order a glass of wine and hold it. No one notices if you drink it or not, just if you have it. Then i usually go to the bathroom dump half out. I have a LOT of work events that are drinking related, and those are the people I don't want knowing. So far so good, and this is my 3rd pregnancy/baby hopefully in 4 years:)
