standing in the crib

How do you deal with this? Do you immediately go in and lay them down? Or just let them figure it out? Today I tried letting her figure it out, and she played around for a good 25 minutes before I went in and laid her down a few times...and she eventually went out. HOw do get them not to stand up in the crib?

Re: standing in the crib

  • I don't think there is a way to stop them from standing in the crib. I put Avery down and let her figure it out. When she is tired she lays down and goes to sleep. Sometimes she stands for a few minutes, sometimes she plays for longer. I wouldn't worry about her standing, unless she is in there screaming or something. She will figure it out on her own.

Yep, this.  Sam's been doing this for more than three or four months now.  He routinely walks/runs around his crib for up to half an hour before he lays down.  She'll figure it out.

  • I just let her lay back down. If I do it she will get right back up.

  • In general I try not to "do" these types of things for J in fear that I'll end up doing it all the time. If he stands when I put him in the crib I leave him that way, if he throws his blanket out it stays out, etc. So far so good lol.

  • We just let N go.  When he first started standing he figured out how to get himself down in a couple of days.  Now there would be no lying him down.  If he wants to stand, he stands.  But when it's bed and nap time now he's good about it.  He'll play around in his crib for a while (depending on how tired he is) and then go to sleep.

  • I don't do anything. She knows how to lay herself back down. She often time cruises around her in crib for a few minutes before she settles herself down for a nap.

  • I just let him do his thing. He lays down eventually. If I go on, the only thing I accomplish is extending the process.
