You spend your entire lunch hour driving across town to get fried freakin rice...just because it's the only dang thing that sounded good. Now I'm picking each and every bean sprout out of it because we're not supposed to eat them
Okay, did a little bit of research, and the big thing is to stay away from RAW bean sprouts because of the risk of e-coli and salmonella. Which can be said of almost every raw food. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it unless you're eating them every day. Especially if they're cooked in the rice.
Don't listen to me.....I just heard they are one of the dirtiest vegetables and can carry the highest levels of bacteria. They advise you not to eat them raw I guess. I'm one of those better safe then sorry types.

We are not supposed to eat bean sprouts???? Really? I have eaten Thai food at least 7 times with bean sprouts...Yikes.
Fried rice sounds AMAZING. I read that we aren't supposed to eat any sprouts either, so I've been avoiding them. But I'm sure if you didn't know and ate them by accident it's no biggie.

Is it bad that this time around Im not worried about all of the "dont eat this or that"? lol. The major foods to avoid I dont eat anyways (i.e. fish, soft cheeses, raw meat, pate, etc).

I am right there with you. Even my OB is saying everything in moderation. This includes fish (love salmon!). As long as the milk in soft cheese is pasturized I've even got the okay on soft cheeses. I just make sure I'm not over doing anything. I'm just so tired of the scare tactics aimed at pregnant women. It feels like if we followed every rule to the letter we'd never leave the house and eat nothing except overcooked, flavourless, but nutritionally complete, gruel.

Nope! I wasn't even worried the first time around. My kid didn't come out with 2 heads or anything.

My thoughts exactly....everything in moderation!! You can still have soda and coffee, just not all day, everyday! This being my third, you learn to know and listen to your body as to what you can and cannot handle (as far as exercise and that sort of thing). Everyone has a different opinion as to what is "good" and "bad" that you are right, we would be stuck home with oats to eat if we listen to everyone of them!!

... you read something about chinese food on the bump and then spend an hour trying to convince yourself that you do NOT need to go get thai or chinese food for dinner since you have a perfectly good roast in the fridge!
lol...Most likely Really my point of my post was the fiasco to get the fried rice, rathar the bean sprouts. I didn't mean to cause such a ruckus I've had a previous loss and I'm one of those super paranoid ones. I'll try not to spread it around

Just thinking out loud here: if your bean sprouts did have ecoli, wouldn't it have already contaminated the rice?
But fried rice sounds amazing right now. As does sushi... Mmmmm

This is so true!!!
You get irrationally upset when the bagel place is out of Everything Bagels...
I was in a bad mood for most of the morning yesterday because of this. I ended up getting a whole grain bagel which is probably better for me anyway.
Then they forgot to put the cream cheese in the bag, I may or may not have cried when I got home
