Transfer day...take a sick day, vacation day or go to work?

My transfer is on Thursday (assuming I have something to transfer). I haven't told anybody about the transfer. Would you A) take a vacation day B) take a sick day or C) go into work after the transfer? I wont be on bed rest restriction, just light activity. I sit at a desk, so that's not a problem. I have unlimited sick time, but have already used 6 of my 17 vacation days for my IVF. What did you, or will you, do?
3 ectopic pregnancies (EDD's 1/30/12-tube removed, 6/2/12-methotrexate and 10/2/12-methotrexate)

  • Can you take a half day? Like, rest in the morning and go in after lunch or in the early afternoon?

  • I would take a sick day for the whole day. It's a medical procedure. And after transfer, even without required bed rest, you may want to take it easy. I had a Xanax for the transfer so I was pretty sleepy afterward and they required me to have a driver. So no way I was going to work on the same day.

Wishing you lots of luck for Thursday!!

Yeah, I'm supposed to take a valium before the transfer, so I'm sure I would be useless for work even if I was going to go (I'm not, my clinic is one of those pesky bed rest ones!).  Anyway, if it was me I would take the day off.  One less thing to stress about.

No need for disguise. If anyone sees you, it's a doctors office right? Which would match the sick call. And if anyone should ask, use the excuse of feminine issues. No one would dare question that!

  • I say take the day off!!!  If you have to take a valium or something like that the day will be kind of useless anyhow.   My clinic is a take it easy for 2 days post ET and I always thought, if God forbid it doesn't result in a BFP it would be awful to have that lingering thought "well if only I would have just stayed off my feet".  This process is way to expensive and emotionally draining to worry about 1 day of work!!!
