We're having a girl in 3ish weeks, and have no idea what we're going to name her. Well, I did post about our front runner (Ruth Antoinette) last week, but we're still not completely sure about that. Antoinette is DH's late mother's first name, so we'll most likely be using that as a mn. Other first names we like are: Abigail, Anne, ...??? I feel like we need some help, please! DS is Henry. Thanks!
DS is going to be a big brother!
Re: What are some girl names that go with Henry?
Agreed!
There's a girl on my local board with a daughter named Wilhelmina (Willa) and a son named Henry. I think it goes together well!
Caroline
Elisaberh/Elizabeth
Beatrice
Eleanor
Victoria
Sarah/Sara
I do like your choices of Ruth and Anne but, I wouldn't do Anne Antoinette.
Thanks! I got a lot of positive feedback last week when I posted about it. It is my late Grammie's mn, and she passed away right after I found out I was pregnant, so there is a lot of significance with the name. I think I'm just afraid that the name sounds too old, if that makes sense.
Our DS is Henry also....I love the name Ruth, but it actually has become a family joke that if we have a girl she'll be Ruth (not in a bad way).
When Henry was born we passed out "Oh, Henry" bars at the hopital with a "It's a Boy" ribbon tied around them. The name was a surprise, but the sex was not.
Now, the ENTIRE family keeps naming candy bars for the next name...the frontrunners that I keep hearing are Ruth and Heath, haha.
Ruth is beautiful, goes with Henry and no one besides my crazy family would ever make that connection.
Charlotte is one that always seems to "go" with Henry for me.
Katherine too (which is my name and I watched too much of the Tudors to pick any of the 6 wives names).
I have a guilty pleasure name of Hazel (DH will NEVER go for Henry and Hazel).
A name that I always think of when I hear Ruth is Miriam...love them both.
Diana would work nicely.
Beatrice is another guilty pleasure (DH vetoed immediately).
Go with Ruth if you love it!!!!!
I think Ruth Antoinette is pretty.
My experience as a teacher with children with "older" sounding names is that...some kids really wear them well and some don't. One of the things that seems to help is a more youthful nickname. Do you like Ruthie?
Would you feel that another "R" name would equally honor your grandmother? Rachel, Rebecca, Rory, Reese, etc.
I do like Ruthie, and would definitely use that as a nn for her (at least until she tells me not to anymore
).
I love Henry, some names we've considered:
Margaret
Georgiana
Victoria
Teresa/Therese
Lucy
Mary
Elizabeth
Ramona
Veronica
Monica
I like the combo Ruth Antoinette even though I'm not a fan of Ruth. Ruthie is a darling NN though.
