1st Trimester

Argh more brown spotting :(

Friday I had a tiny bit of brown spotting a few times.  Then, over the weekend, it was pretty nonexistent. Then, this morning I had a little more :(. I'll call my dr this morning, but it's scary. I had no idea how draining emotionally pregnancy would be!

  • I've had some too. I had some bright red bleeding at 6 weeks (I'm 7 weeks and 4 days today) but had an ultrasound and everything is fine, thankfully. When I saw my doctor last week she said she wasn't worried about the brown spotting but if I was to see any red I should call immediately. So far it's just brown but I've had the brown spotting now for a good week and I'm thinking about calling my doctor to see if it's normal to continue having it for so long. Some days I have next to nothing and other days I've had to use a light pad. So weird!!

  • It is so scary. I had brown spotting at 8w 5d. I saw it on the TP and literally said F...out loud! I went into the doctor and they did an ultrasound and baby was fine. The doc asked a lot of questions and we determined that the spotting came from constipation and also heavy lifting. Hang in there. Relax and drink lots of water and call as soon as you can.

  • my best friend had pink spotting for about two weeks and now has a 1 month old.  pink and brown are normal, as long as you are not soaking through a pad and having severe period like cramps, everything is probably okay. but, yes it can be very nerve wracking in these early weeks

  • Definitely nothing to fill a pad, it's more like a couple grains of rice worth. That's not a normal measurement standard, I know. It's just enough to be able to see it.

  • I called my dr and the receptionist is having a nurse call me back. If she thought it sounded like an emergency I like to think she's have scheduled me to come in on that phone call. Hopefully that's a good sign :)

  • The nurse is supposed to call me back too. I just scheduled my next ultrasound for July 3rd. I can't wait to see how things are going. When I had my first ultrasound at 6 weeks I was in so much shock I don't think I really knew what I was looking at. I'm sure there's nothing wrong as far as the brown spotting goes, I just want to know how long I can expect it for. :)
  • Just spoke with the nurse and she told me as long as it doesn't get heavier or pink or brown, don't worry. She mentioned implantation bleeding, but I'm 7 weeks so it's kind of late for that. I know my dates aren't off bc conception would have been the last time that dh and I had sex. Regardless, she said don't worry, but if it gets worse and it scares me, go to the ER. I have an ultrasound Thursday and she said that was soon enough.

  • I had spotting with my first two pregnancies too.... I remember coming home from a morning of golfing with my husband, riding around in the golf cart on the bumpy course , only to find my underwear was full of brown blood spots... I was nervous, nervous, nervous...... then with my second pregnancy I had a lot of the same but I knew what to expect this time, both pregnancies turned out fabulous. My first was a 10lb 4oz'r and my second was 8lbs 6oz...... Try not to worry,,, as hard as that may be.  It could be implantation bleeding, or maybe you bumped your cervix somehow (bumpy ride, sex, )  my advice to you is to not search the web and ask everyone of their experiences because you are gonna get some horror stories and then your heart will not be at peace.... just relax... do your thing and speak life over that amazing blessing that grows inside you.  ie:  you will live and not die,,, you will form to completion lacking nothing, emotionally, physically, mentally etc....  just speak life over your belly.

  • Try not to worry I've had brown spotting on and off through out my first trimester.. Mines been all brown but I was still super worried I went to the doctor and everything fine they said as long as its brown it's old blood and not to worry..my doctor also told me it could happen when you would usually have your period.. So keep your head up I'm sure everything is fine!
  • Thanks ladies, I'm feeling much less stressed :)

  • Brown means old blood, red means fresh. My doctor said not to worry about brown, but if I experienced any red bleeding to call immediately.
