Productive Member of my House

So... Today its 5 weeks. I am re-joining the world again and trying to get my house back in order. However, that included me making banana bread and mucking the kitchen up... Not cleaning it.

baby steps.

When did you gals start getting back in the swing of things around the house? For example, I could be vacuuming or something right not instead of looking at the Gap sale online and posting on The Bump. ;)

Re: Productive Member of my House

  • meh- I do one or two small things a day (today I did a couple loads of laundry, and cleaned out the entraceway of the house).  The floors can wait until tomorrow...

  • I've stayed on top of laundry and dishes.  I try to vacuum once a week, but don't always get to it and then realize that there's a tuft of dog hair floating across the floor (eww!).  Yardwork used to be my thing, but I've completely given up on that.  I can run the vacuum w/ DD in a Baby Bjorn.. not so much the lawn mower.

I haven't vacuumed yet after the c/s and have been looking at cat hair and trying to decide if I should.  DH has not kept up on that part of the bargain.  He has mowed the lawn so I suppose I can't complain too much.  Our house is a mess right now but I think if I vacuum and put the dishes in the dish washer it will look totally different.  I try to do 1-2 things a day to straighten up and make things look presentable for visitors that may drop by.  FIL just popped in and I am a little embarrassed about the messy kitchen.  Eek.

  • LO is a little over 5 weeks, and I still don't feel like I get enough done.  I used to have an immaculate house until the last few months of my pregnancy.  I told myself when I had the baby I was going to do everything that I couldn't physically do at the end of my pregnancy.  Boy was I delusional.  I had no idea how hard it would be to get things done.  I have no idea how I will manage once I go back to work in 3 weeks. But I'm sure it will happen some how. :) At least I'm not alone.

  • I went through LO's clothes & took out the ones she won't fit into. A whole diaper box full! I really wish I would have known the little monkey wouldn't fit into nb size! Plus the gerber 0-3 size onsies shrunk so those don't fit her either. There's even some 3-6 sized ones I'm unsure about!
  • DD will be 7 weeks on Wednesday.  DH is deployed so I'm staying at my mom's house in our hometown.  Even with the help from her (she works full time so is home around 5) I can still only get done a couple things around the house a day.  On the days that my mom asks to have LO sleep in her room with her and I get 7 hours of sleep in a row I can get soo much done.

  • I pretty much got right back into everything around week 3.  And from about 5 days PP I just slowly started doing little things. I have full fledge scrubbed my house from top to bottom three times since DD2 was born.

I have all my gerber  clothes one size smaller (0-3 with nb 3-6 with 0-3 etc) for this reason!
