Anyone else pg and overweight? I find that women who are at a normal weight do not understand what is going on with us. That there are diffrences in the way our pregnancy progresses.
I am 10 weeks and can't fit into my jeans any more. A lilttle extra weight or bloating or finally getting those first signs of the baby bump have pushed me over the edge. My sister keeps saying " i wasnt showing until my 5th or 6th month" it makes me feel so bad cause I wanna show, I wanna see the bump, but my weight has prevented me from doing that. I am going to have to give in and just buy maternity pants. I didn't want to wear them so early in the game but I have no choice. I cant be tight and uncomfortable.
I so far have been lucky to not have any weight related issues, but I am nervous of what is to become of me in the coming months. I hope there are a few of you that can relate.
Re: Plus Size and Pregnant
Me. Although my weight on the scale hasn't changed much since the BFP, I still feel bloated. I lost around 18 pounds prior to conceiving but hadn't bought any new clothes yet, so for now I'm just re-growing into the clothes that were getting too big. And I'm right there with you on waiting for the bump, and also being anxious about weight related issues for the next few months. For now I'm just maintaining the exercise routine and doing my best to eat well. And I think there are other women on here who are already in maternity clothes, no shame in being comfortable!
I was expecting a word or two from my doctor about my weight at my first appointment, but nothing was mentioned. I think that means that they aren't worried until there's a need to worry.
Thanks ladies I appreciate the words. I too lost 10lbs before pp but for some reason nothing is fitting and its so frustrating to me. I wanna do some daily walking but I have to limit my exercise since i am high risk for clotting.
I really should just embrace this and try to do the best I can with what I got.
My DH keeps telling me to eat cause he wants his baby big and strong lol I laugh knowing I am the one thats gonna have to push out a 10lb baby and lose 70lbs after the baby if I listen to him and dont control myself lol.

I'm also plus size, I was a size 16 and had just lost about 15 lbs. prior to my BFP. Thanks to bloating I'm back into my "fat pants" (bigger 16's or 18's) but haven't bought any maternity clothes yet. The first midwife I met with expressed concerns about gestational diabetes-- she said I'd be tested for it twice instead of just once throughout the pregnancy, and she also said I should limit my intake of fruit to one serving a day which I think is nuts and I'm not following....
I think the most frustrating thing to me about being plus size and pregnant is that the "bump" probably won't be noticeable as a baby bump for some time... it's just going to look like I'm getting fatter than I already am. :-

Dear Baby Pacheco...
Even if you were skinny its a little early to have a bump anyway!
For my first prgnancy I wieghed 245 when it started. I used maternity pants and a Be-band to round out my belly to make it look like I was pregnant, not just super fat.
And I know everyone's pregnancy is different, but I adopted very healthy eating habits while I was pregnant and when I had my son I wieghed 210. I know "dieting" isn't healthy while pregnant, but eating healthy won't hurt. It is hard, because you're craving things but it was worth it. My son weighed 10 pounds at birth so it didn't harm him at all.
Anyway. Besides all that, just try to enjoy your pregnancy, think of your LO and how amazing your body is for growing that little thing!
Plus size here too. I am down to one non maternity pair of jeans that fit. This is my second go at things and to top it off I have 4 fibroids. I already am showing and have had people at work ask about it.
Just know that you are not alone!
Overweight and pregnant right here! I'm currently buttoning my jeans with assistance of a hair band.
I feel bigger than I did with my last pregnancy, even though I weigh the same and am wearing the same size clothes. Honestly, it makes me pretty emotional. Most women get a bump and look pregnant at some point, but with DS I never did. My pants got tight, but I never had to buy maternity pants or go up a size, so even though I never looked pregnant, I only looked a little fatter. I'm afraid I'm just going to look super fat this time.
I'm a bigger girl as well, and was when I got pregnant last time too. Last time I lost weight at the begining and than didn't begin to gain weight until the middle of my second trimester. I found last time that I couldn't eat very much at a time, at first from my m/s and later on from baby squishing my stomach. So my smaller more frequent meals deffinatly seemed to help slow my weight gain. I also didn't have a whole lot of cravings, or want all of the junk that you typically hear about pregnant women wanting which helped as well. Last time I did get a bump, tho it was a little longer before it was obvious that it was a baby bump, and it did always have some squish over the top of it. I was told later in my last pregnancy that I looked great pregnant, that I looked thinner and healthier only with a cute bump..
This time around I've been much sicker and for a much longer time, I've already lost 16 lbs since I found out I was pregnant. My doctor isn't worried since I obviously had some weight to spare. He said as long as I am able to keep my pills down (pnv, asprin, etc) and some food stays in each day I shouldn't worry. He also told me that at this point baby will get what he/she needs before I do, so if anyone is going without it's me not baby.
I think the most important thing to remember being bigger girls to begin with, is not to get into that frame of mind that "I can eat whatever I want because I am pregnant". Many women make this mistake and end up gaining 70 lbs and having a 7lb baby. Which is a problem for anyone, but for a girl who's already starting out with some weight struggles, this weight could stick around long after the child has started school.
If your wondering where to get plus size Maternity clothes I would recommend checking out Old Navy. They have a great selection online, and that's where I got most of my maternity clothes last time. They also have petite and Tall sizes for those women like myself who have a hard time with regular length pants.
(Sorry for the novel, I really got on a roll there)

Bigger girl checking in! When I got pregnant with DS I was 250lbs and gained another 30lbs. Everything went really well for me until the last month when my blood pressure started going up. After DS was born I worked really hard and got down to 200lbs at the start of this pregnancy. So far I've about maintained that.
Just make sure to keep eating as healthy as you can. I've got a couple of pregnancy workout dvds, make sure I take daily walks (weather permitting), and get to the gym as often as I can. Even doing light exercise throughout the pregnancy will really be a help come labour and delivery!
As far as maternity pants, I gave in at about 7 weeks. I have no regrets either! They are sooooo much more comfortable. I got to the point that I couldn't stand the waistband. I could button my pants, but by the end of the day they just HURT!

I'm here too! So glad I am not alone in this.
I also bought big, beautiful and pregnant. I like it. My OB during my last pregnancy never brought up my weight, and to tell you the truth, that made me happy. Every dr's appt I have ever gone to the issue of weight was brought up, so it was nice to be treated a bit more 'normally'. I like her a lot, so I know if I had concerns that she would help me. I need to find a new OB in another state soon (we are moving), so I am going to ask "is the dr comfortable with working with a plus size pregnancy?"
I have not gotten any maternity pants yet. I will try soon though. Any stores suggestions would be great!

I'm a plus sized girl too. I'm about the same weight I was with my son. Luckily last time I never had to buy maternity clothes. I just bought the be band and they held my pants up that had to sit below my belly.
I have a picture of me 6 days before my son was born, and I look pregnant but it is a side belly shot. I never had a stranger comment about me being pregnant, and that made me sad. I had hopes that the 2nd time around I would weigh less so that my belly would show. And while I was going to a gym and watching my diet, I hadn't made any progress when I got this BFP. So I'm resigned to not looking pregnant once again.

Thanks I appreciate it. I have just ordered 5 pairs of pants/capris from old navy. They were having a sale and a coupon so I did pretty well 84$ for all those pants. Target was a big bust but hopefully they will fit when they get here.
I am really trying to eat well. Only indulging 1 or 2x a week, not every night. Fruits and veggies as much as I can but protein is really hard for me to get into I am just not interested.
Dr said fruit juices are bad to stick to fresh fruit. Hopefully I can start taking walks with the hubbs after I get some energy back.
