Hi everyone,
I live in Elk Grove Village. I will be giving birth at Alexian Brothers. Any reviews on anyone who has given birth here??
Also, anyone selling maternity clothes? As I am still tiny but looking ahead. I am 14 weeks right now. I am due Dec 14th.
Thanks!
Re: Alexian Brothers
I gave birth there in November! In general, my experience was positive. I spent a lot of time there during my pregnancy (2 overnight visits prior to my delivery for BP issues) and I thought the facilities were just fine. The food isn't half bad either.
My son was a preemie and the NICU staff there is great. Our son was in great hands. Since I had high BP and had to be on mag sulfate during delivery they did not allow me to BF (I think that's the reason anyways) right away. With all the complications I wasn't able to do it until day 3, and he never really latched so we FF now. I did rent a pump from them for a month, too.
I really liked my delivery nurse, Chrissy and my PP nurse Kathy. They were so awesome!
What OB practice are you going with? I used Female Healthcare and they have an office right at the hospital, so it's really convenient. I primarily saw Dr. Szwedo and Dr. Moran but a different doctor delivered me (can't think of his name). I liked the practice and will use them again for future pregnancies.

I gave birth there just about 3 years ago. The hospital is ok. I would not say it is the best in the area by any means.
A LOT of my experience had to do with my doctor. I had Dr. Orhan and hated her! She was rushed and had way too many patients IMO. She was quick to section me and did not listen to me or my husband she even tried to bully me into a circumcision when my husband went home to shower.
I am planning to deliver there in the next month +/- and have a different doctor whom I love! I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Mruz and Jill Edwards CNM. They are awesome! I feel so much better this time around with Mruz.
If your looking for breastfeeding support locally, I am a member of Schaumburg/Roselle LLL. We meet the first Friday of the month at 9:30 in the Schaumburg library as well as evenings and Mondays in different locations.
I am with Advanced Medical Associates with Dr Yockey and Nicole. I absolutely love everyone at there office. THey are wonderful. They are inside of Alexian so it is very convenient.
I am planning on breastfeeding now but I am scared out of my mind to do it. I have just been doing research and that is it.
I hope I didn't scare you by saying they wouldn't let me. I was a high risk pregnancy, more than likely yours will go smoothly and your LO will be able to BF with you like a champ from the get go.
Good luck with everything!

I delivered at NCH, before they had their new wing opened up - I delivered in Feb 2010, they opened it in May 2010, so I guess its not "brand new" now and had a great experience then, I can only begin to imagine how much nicer everything is now!
On a related note, one of my good friends was an L&D nurse at Alexian for years, and I'm friends with 2 other L&D nurses that are there still and it sounds like everything is nice.
Hello! Im also giving birth there too! I work at St. Alexis Hospital, but chose Alexian Brothers! They have private rooms and are really great there! Im 19 weeks now! Its a great hospital!
When are you due?
