OB Recommendations?

Hi!

I'm new to The Bump, and this is my first post! My husband and I found out we are pregnant with our first child earlier this week. My calculations indicate I should be about 5 weeks. I'm researching female OB's in Delaware County (mainly in Drexel Hill/Springfield/Main Line), and I was curious if any of you ladies have recommendations. I'm really looking for someone who is personable and doesn't treat us like we're stupid. I've had a bad experience with a previous OBGYN who was very dismissive and condescending, so choosing an OBGYN for such a happy time in our lives just seems like a daunting task.

Has anyone ever used Dr. Colleen McGee from Han OBGYN in the new Crozer Health System health pavillion in Drexel Hill? She seems really sweet and down to earth.

I look forward to your responses!!

I realize you asked for a woman. . and I was the same way until I finally met Dr. Ufberg out of Lankenau Hospital (Part of Main Line Health).  He is amazing, friendly, and personable.  If you google search him, you will see tons of positive responses.

  • I also realize you have asked for a women, but I ws a big fan of Dr. Dein at Main Line Womens Health. There are several doctors at this practice.I also liked Dr. Dardarian. I loved the practice, but on weekends there are three other practices that deliver at Bryn Mawr and only one doctor from all three practices deliver. I had an awful experience delivering on the weekend with a doctor from a different practice. So I would actually go with Lankanua if I eere you. It is a great hospital with private rooms. My sister-in-law delivered there at the same time Cole Hammel's wife, from the Phillies, delivered there too. I am having my second at Paoli and am using Anne Bussard from Main Line OBGYN. So far, I have not had a doctor that I did not like. Good luck with finding the right doctor for you.

  • I switched in my 3rd month to Great Valley OBGYN. They are a practice of 5 women and all of them have been great! The thing I like about them is that they are very experienced (15+ years each) and have a good approach in that nothing seems to phase them. At every appointment they ask "Any questions?" and I never, ever feel rushed. They will sit and answer anything you ask. But what I like about them is that they are sort of like, "Everything is fine, you look great, see ya next time!" They don't let people get hysterical. I failed my blood glucose test and I was crying. The doctor was like, " Please don't worry, it's no big deal, your 3-hour one will be fine." (And it was) It's just like they have done it all before, seen it all before and it's very reassuring. They are not alarmists. "What you are feeling is perfectly normal, you're doing great, see ya next time." Of course, IF something were wrong, they would act quickly, but they are just really nice and great.

They are part of Main Line Health and deliver at Paoli. Paoli is awesome-private rooms, big rooms, family-centered care, etc.
