We are purchasing a split level home that has a metal railing to divide the floors. Im trying to figure out how to get a baby gate at the top. One side will be the metal railing and the other is the wall. Any suggestions?? TIA!
Yes! We have a split level house as well. We actually replaced the metal railing we had with a wood railing and we certainly did not want to drill into the new wood railing! DH built a bit of blocking around the railing post with some 2x4s and secured it to the post (not sure how but I could ask him) and then drilled into that directly to secure the gate. It's not going anywhere. I'm not sure how it would work with the metal spindles but I think you get the idea of bulding something around it to then use as the anchor. I hope this helps.

This. We just used huge screws and then cut the ends off- it works great! And it is very cheap! No issues yet with our daughter and the wood banister won't be damaged at all and there are no holes to fill in on our walls:)
After 4 years of unexplained infertility, IF treatments and 3 losses we have our miracle baby!
