Swimming

Well, summer had officially hit New England. We have had a heat wave this week, and I finally was able to bring Mason swimming a few times. I always meant to join a class at the YMCA, but it never worked with my work schedule.

Mason LOVES the water. It was so nice the first two times when he held on to be in the water. He is not a cuddler, and it was so nice to feel him clinging on like a little monkey. He was never scared, but he did keep me close at first. By the third time, however, he was already pushing me away. He prefers being held on his belly, kicking his little feet. It is so darn cute. He doesn't even mind being completely dunked. I guess pouring water directly over his face in the tub since birth has paid off.

Anyway, I was just wondering if you ladies have any recommendations for a good baby float or even one of those suits with the built-in float (if they make them for this age.) I love holding him in the water, but if we are going to be in pools all summer I want more variety for him. His cousin had a cheapo from Walmart the other day that I was not very impressed with .... not that I mind cheap ... or Walmart.

EDIT: Maybe he is trying to learn how to swim early so he can date Lena and impress her momma ... Swimz!!!

We went to the pool with a friend of mine and she had this for her DD:

We got to use it and play with it because her DD hated being in the water so she ended up holding her the entire time. We played around with it, aside from being difficult to get my DD into we thought it was pretty nice.

We have one just like this and I really like it. The ring around it is big enough that it protects him from big kids not paying attention, but the mesh between the two blow up rings allow him to still play with the water. I actually put him in it in the shallow end (we have a zero entry pool in town) and he was able to use it like a walker!

We got a swim vest from Walmart (20-33 pounds) and DD loves it. She's not big enough for us to let go, but we can hold her hands and she'ss kick and cruise around the pool.
