do you put on sunscreen when you're out for the day

we took LO to the fair today. i smothered her in sunscreen & had the shade all the way down on the city mini- it goes pretty far. i was still paranoid & kept reapplying eventhough we were only there for about 2 hours.  i noticed tons of people there with tiny infants & other children who were not covered or sheltered from the sun in any way. i found this weird. it is 85 degrees here today.

do you put sunscreen on your child everyday if you are going to be out in the sun?

Re: do you put on sunscreen when you're out for the day

  • Yup.  I slather it on when we leave and every 90 min after both her and myself.

  • Yep - now that he's 6 months we put it on whenever he'll be exposed to sun. I still worry about him sucking on his arm/foot/whatever with it on though so try to keep his arms and face shaded in the stroller (we have a City Mini too) so we only have to put on his legs. Then I wash it off his legs when we get home. :) We use the Neutrogena Baby Pure stuff.

  • If we're going to be out for any length of time, yes, LO is slathered in sunscreen.  He has very fair skin and since DH and I burn easily, we're assuming he will, too.  If we're just running to the store and he'll only be exposed to the sun for a few minutes, I don't bother with sunscreen, but I do throw a blanket over the car seat.

  • If we are spending any time outside ~ yes absolutely! For just day to day errands and things, no.

  • if we're going to be outside for more than 10 minutes or so, I absolutely put sunblock on.  running errands - no, she isn't going to get burnt between the car and the store.

  • If we're going to be out in the sun for more than a few minutes, yes. Poor DS has my skin and we both burn suuuper easily (he's never actually burned but did turn pink once, despite the sunblock.)

I like having to put sunblock on him actually, because it reminds me to put it on myself. : P
