Not sure if it's the same thing as a baby preparation class.. if so, yes we did and yes it was beneficial.
It was a lot fo fun... we were the only adoptive parents in the class. I actually pitched the idea of an adoptive parents class to the instructor. She liked it but said she wasn't sure if she could recruit enough participants.
The funniest part.... they served beer and wine for the daddys... and I got to drink I had a few moms give me the side-eye until they knew I wasn't pregnant.
Best friends and sisters... 24 months and 16 months

Moved on to gestational surrogacy with a family friend who is our angel and due 7/23/15
Silliestbunny, it has the same concept. We are attending this week and I do wonder about what others will think when they don't see a bump when they called me to confirm the class I was reminded that I should take a pillow for comfort, lol. I guess it will be an opportunity to talk about adoption. Our EM is due in 2 weeks, so we are doing everything to get prepared.

That was funny about the beer and wine.
I loved it... but I'll be honest, parts annoyed me. And the parts that annoyed me are what sparked me to ask the instructor to consider an adoptive parents version.... esp when adoptive parents could come at any point of their wait...
What bothered me was the stress on breast feeding and skin to skin. The instructors POV that she shared made me feel like I was setting up for failure as an adoptive mom. She talked about how "cruel" it is not to give a healthy baby skin to skin immediately. She also bagged on formula feeders. Her intentions were great..... but I don't think any moms should be told that no skin to skin is cruel... because you never know when it might not be possible due to some complications. Women shouldn't start out their mothering feeling like a failure... so her comments really could end up be offensive to lots of people.
That said, the rest was great. Super fun bonding with DH too.

All we did was a 2-hour newborn care class. It was very helpful to know how tiny their stomachs are, and how often to bathe them.
ETA: Like silliest, there was a huge stress on BFing, esp because the teacher was a sub who is usually a BFing teacher. She literally said BFing could cure anything from bacterial infections to cancer. We were waiting for someone to side-eye us for even considering formula. We didn't get any lectures on skin to skin, however.
