My hubby is considering a job in CIncinnati which would have us moving in about a month, maybe 2. After a few Google searches, I'm coming up with nothing for birth centers, limited number of midwives, and an overall feeling that the state/area is not natural birth friendly. Anyone have a provider and/or birthplace recommendation?

Re: Ohio Moms, especially Cincinnati area
I live in Cincinnati. There is no birth center here. In Dayton (about an hour north) there is a birth center that is I think part of a hospital up there.
There is a homebirth group.....they have a yahoo group, and they have all the info re midwives.
I myself had an emergency c - section with a preemie, so I did not get a natural birth, but if you join the yahoo group you can get a lot more info.
BTW the most natural birth friendly OB who does back ups for homebirths and such is Dr. Bowen.
Good Luck!

I'm in Ohio, but about two hours north. My HBMWs are from Toledo (an hour and a half north), as there is no one closer to me. Ohio (at least the rural areas) is not NB friendly. We have no MWs left in the hospitals in my area. The only thing we do have is a large Amish population, so there are some MWs willing to drive to this area.
My SIL lives in Cinci and just had a NB in a hospital there last year. Her OB was very NB-friendly. If you would like his info, let me know.
I've had the same issues here in rural Pennsylvania. NOT natural birth friendly, C-section rates in the 60% range, etc. It took me to this point, 6 months, into my pregnancy to find a supportive midwife and doula who I am 100% comfortable with and have a long history, 25 years, of natural births. I interviewed a lot of providers, considered going to a birth center 4 hours away (the closest) before I found these two I thought I would be in a better situation in Cincy being a more urban area.
The big issue is going to be starting this entire process all over again when I'm 8 months along, which is likely where I'll be by the time we move. ACK!!!!
I'm just shocked. Totally, utterly shocked.
I did find an old thread from 2009 on here about Dr. Bowen. Keeping my fingers crossed he'll be taking patients by the time we move. As soon as I know for sure, hopefully this week, I"m going to start making calls. If anyone has any other suggestions for providers, I'll take them! I have not entirely ruled out a home birth, but would prefer to be in a birth center, or a hospital with a good NB friendly provider.
I'm in cincy and am using the Tri-Health Midwives group - they deliver at Bethesda North and Good Sam. Their C-section rate is below 10% although they do say they take very low risk patients...
So far I'm really liking them. I do have to deliver in a hospital - but am OK with that.
I am in Cincinnati and will be having a home birth in Jan. Its true that the midwives protect their info (you wont find anything on the internet about the homebirth ones.) However, in the homebirth yahoo group, you will find a great connection with homebirth and/or natural birth parents. It is true that there are also a ton of great doulas in the area. PM me if you want to yahoo group URL. I dont want to put it on the page.
The birth center in Dayton is also a great choice, or go with The Bowen Center as your primary care givers. Dr Wall and Dr Bowen are both very pro natural birth. They are my parallel care doctors, so they also are open to being supportive of home births. (Though they will not "officially recommend" any particular midwives, to protect themselves and the midwives.)
Ditto this. I'm having a midwife assisted home birth in September. Bowen/Wall are my back-up OBs and I really like them. Took me a good while to find a midwife but I finally did.
Are you currently under the care of a midwife or OB? I know this late in pregnancy it may be more difficult for you to find someone.
