how messy is your dh/so

My h is a slob. He works 2nd shift and when I woke up this morning and went into the living room I found his uniform on the couch, boots in the middle odd the floor and socks too. I swear he thinks he can leave his clothes anywhere and they will miraculously end up washed and clean and put nicely away.

Re: how messy is your dh/so

  • Not at all.  He is extremely anal about placement of things.  He does most of the cleaning in our house.
  • I'm the slob.  DH gets the twitches if things are out of place.

  • He would be snobbier if I wasn't around, but he knows I like everything at least picked up before bed.

  • My DH is, but his comes from being spoiled. His mother washed his clothes until we got married. I made it clear to him that I would not be his mother or his maid and now he at least picks up his stuff.

This here, minus the wedding part.  He was the spoiled golden child. SIL was the slave and had to do everything.  Every thing gets left where it was used. Tools, clothes used kleenex, dirty dishes you name it! It is the only issue we have and after 10 years of fighting, discussing, cussing and begging he still won't get it. He works on it for a week or 2 and then starts turning back into a teenager. Confused

He is pretty messy. Clothes all over the place. Not just one place. everywhere. Even next to the hamper. I'm not a neat freak but he is a little too messy for my taste.

This is my DH, he gets really wacky if there is stuff all over.  He would have made a great military man becasue he loves everything in its place, lined up, etc.  I am the sloppier of the two in this house.

  • My DH is anal about the placement of things (i.e. picking up) but could care less about how clean the house is.  For that reason, I do most of the dusting and scrubbing.  Left to his own devices, the house would be picked up but not clean.

My h is this way too. He is better about some things, like not leaving old food out in the kitchen like he did as a bachelor. But the clothes thing drives me nuts. We have piles of his clothes in our bedroom because he never gets around to putting them away. I have two large hampers plus a laundry basket that are full of a mixture of his dirty and clean clothes...

Sadly I think there are more than enough lazy bums to go around. I wouldn't mind sharing with you though, half the clutter that way.

  • Total slob, but so are both his parents. You can't even see their kitchen table. I'm trying to undo 30 years of messiness.

  • He is a neat freak. We are both clean people, but I let him do the cleaning since he will only come right behind me and do it again.

  • Overall, he is clean, but he also does what the OP's DH does.  DH is in law enforcement.  So, he comes in the house, takes off uniform and all his supplies.  The supplies mainly end up on the dining room table, except his gun.  The uniform gets thrown over the chair or the loveseat in the living room.

  • My FI is slobby, I guess, but is willing to help out when I ask. Usually I'm the one who ends up doing dishes/vacuuming/etc. but it's mostly because it bothers me the most. He takes care of the laundry though, which is nice for me because I hate folding. For the most part though I don't really care who does what. I'd rather we were able to spend time together when we are both home than worrying about the house needing to be cleaned. As long as it's functionable, it's good enough for me.

  • DH is a total slob. I'm no neat freak either. It's a deadly combination. I even posted a monthly cleaning schedule hoping to keep this place in some sort of order, but so far, no luck. Still looking for a solution.
  • Average I guess on a day to day basis, but he will go through and help tidy up the kitchen while I do bedtime, clean and organize the garage every few months, etc. so I don't really have any complaints.   There are days where I'll think I'm done all the laundry and then notice the heap on his side of the room, but it isn't a hill to die on for me.  I know I can be a PIA about stuff too.
