My friend is having her baby shower today. I LOOOOOVE baby showers. Problem is when I looked at the invite and googled it, it's 35 miles away (we all live in the same neighborhood idk why her friend picked a venue so freaking far)! With our car, that's $20 of gas round trip. That's about half of what I have in my wallet till Wednesday.
This friend has been really there for me lately and I don't want to let her down but that money could be used for groceries or pull ups. DH proposed that we take her out for a nice dinner Wednesday (payday) and give her her gift then. It's not completely unheard of: my friend did the same for me when she was a no-show to both of my showers. Ah, Country Buffet......
I just feel like a real heel for being like "sorry I can't make it; it's too far", Apparently, that's what many others have been saying too.
Hmmmm......
Re: Baby Shower: Go or No Go?
I'm not sure what kind of 'nice' dinner you're taking her out for that will be under $20 for both of you and YH too it sounds like...
I would go personally, esp if you already rsvp'ed. Is the friendship worth $20 to you?I always ask myself, would I feel worse if I didn't go? Sounds to me like in this case yes.
But if you 'all' live in the same neighborhood why can't you carpool and ride together? The way you said this makes it sound like a bunch of ppl from your neighborhood are going... plus going together makes it more fun anyway.
Go Phils!!
I went. She's been a really good friend to me so I should kick myself in the butt hard for even thinking about not going. I was being silly. Also my husband neglected to tell me that the gas tank was full. All I did was refilled what I used, which turned out to be $10. He just didn't want to go, which is probably why he led me to believe that the car was empty (it was a co-ed shower and I only know the M2B because the D2B is DH's high school buddy). So I left his butt at home.
I was wondering
. Glad to hear you went, hope it was a nice time!
This is what I'm thinking. If they expect you're coming, just go. You'll end up spending way more than $20 for a nice dinner.
