Did anyone find it harder to nap train than sleep train for bedtime? Bedtime training was pretty easy for us. Two nights of 15 minutes of crying and goes to bed great ever since. We started nap training yesterday and thought it was going pretty good. His morning nap he cried for 17 minutes and then slept for 30 minutes. His afternoon nap he cried for 5 minutes and slept for 1.5 hours. Today was not as good. He cried for 40 minutes this morning (I was a mess) and slept for 30 minutes. His afternoon nap he cried on and off for an hour. I went and got him after that. Is it possible he just wasn't ready for a nap at those two times? I didn't want to wait until he was overtired but I didn't want to put him down too early either. I guess I need to find a better balance. Also, did anyone notice that it was just overall harder or took a longer time to nap train rather than sleep train for bedtime?
Re: Nap training harder than nighttime training?
Yes. It is much harder because their desire for sleep is not as strong. However, you have gotten much better results than I did. It took us 10 days to get the first nap without a sh!t ton of crying and all our naps were 30 minutes for at least 3.5 weeks.
That being said, it is highly likely that your times are off. That was our biggest obstacle. Trying to find the correct wake times was tricky but now that I know my son's needs in terms of how long he can be awake before naps, he is soooooo much happier.
When we started, his first wake time of the day was 2 hrs on the dot. Then the subsequent wake times were 2.5 hrs. We had 3 naps a day at that time. But now my son started being awake and alert after his night feeding and it has been kinda hard to squeeze in the third nap so I decided to stretch his wake times and push it to 2 naps. Now his wake times are 2.5/3/3 hrs (this only works once the naps are longer obviously). I got longer naps once I figured out the right time to put him down. Too early: struggle to fall asleep and 30 min nap. Too late: overtired, struggle to sleep, 30 minute nap. It's a delicate balance but now I get 1.5-2 hr naps.

Sorry bumping from my phone and it gliched.

Especially, the wake times chart, map extensions, early bedtime, TWT(total wake time). It takes a minute to understand all the abbreviations but there is a glossary.
