So upset right now! Would love to hear if anyone else has exp this or know what means...my OB just called and left msg that prog. level "adequate" but wants them higher. so she wants me to take supplements.
i just want a healthy baby...i it is not meant to be or if there are chromosomal issues then should i really be taking this supplement??

Re: progesterone
There wasn't any negative side effects for me...I took them for four weeks. So I was more than happy to take them. I had the suppositories...which are a little annoying to insert, and just be sure to wear a panty liner to avoid any messes.
I'm not sure the progesterone prevents chromosomal issues, I thought it had more to do with the formation of the placenta...but I'm not a doctor and to be honest I didn't ask for a ton of details on it. So if someone can verify, please do so.

I was trying to figure out how to word this as well. As far as I am aware, low progesterone does not mean your baby has a chromosomal issue, it has more to do with sticking and growing (super technical terms, I know). Helping with formation of the placenta sounds right to me but I could be wrong.

I was prescribed vaginal suppository supplements from the day of my BFP to 12 weeks. He never checked my progesterone levels, just gave me the script because of my loss history as a precautionary measure. I just stopped using them on Wednesday. Many of us have taken supplements either orally or vaginally, and it seems to be pretty common.
Taking the supplement will not prevent a baby with a chromosomal abnormality from miscarrying, it will just give your body the time it needs to attempt to give the baby time to "stick" properly.

thank you all for your posts!!
you all have made me feel better! i just wish i hadn't missed the dr's call.
how do i add a new pregnancy?
I've taken progesterone during each of my pregnancies. Both of my boys were fine. We didn't take my progesterone levels this time around yet, but my OB put me on it as a precaution seeing as how I took it during the last two pregnancies. I take the oral form, Prometrium, 200mg 1x/day. I also take it at night because it makes you sleepy (or can).
If your OB tells you to take it, do it.
