I am not immune to measles...was with my las pregnancy but now am not. I was going to teach summer school this summer (2nd grade teacher) but now I am little concerned. What would you do? I do plan on asking my midwife her opinion for sure also but it has been on my mind and it's the weekend.

Re: Would you???
Is there any way you can see if there are any kids with exemptions that you might come in contact with?
Side note - why do 2nd graders have to do summer school?
I am a teacher and I was always told that you have the right to know who is immunized and who wasn't. However if you aren't ready to let your work know that you are pg then it might be tricky to ask them, since it isn't really a questions teachers ask the nurse every day.
As for getting the measles shot they won't do it until after you give birth. It was discovered that my mmr antibodies are completely gone. I asked if they could do it during my pg but they said that they wouldn't do it until I gave birth. Good luck!
I check and see if anyone was exempt from vaccines too.
Our district (I teach elementary) has summer school for grades K-12! It's voluntary and free and anyone can attend. They have enrichment for the GT kids and extra help for the kids who are struggling in reading and math. It's a great way to bring up those lower readers, is taught by certified teachers, and is good for kids who don't retain knowledge well over the summer. Plus, it's a half day of free activities and 2 free meals, which is important when you have a very urban and poor district. Half of our schools are continuous learning schools anyhow - go year-round - so this keeps the other half of the city's kids busy over the break while their parents work.
