Mine is on top of baby. Doc said its nothing to worry about but with DD it was to the side. He said it would make it a little more difficult to see the sex and to feel movement.... anyone else have this too?
Do you mean it's in the front like btw the baby and your belly? If so, that's called anterior and lots of women have an anterior placenta. I had one with my DD and felt her all the time and knew she was a girl. If you mean your placenta is at the top of your uterus, that's a good thing too because it won't interfere with birth. I don't know why your doc would say the placenta would hinder you from finding out baby's sex. It might dampen movement but you'll still be able to feel some.

This.
I have an anterior placenta. I found out VERY VISIBLY at my 20 wk u/s that I am having a BOY. I have also been feeling movement (not consistent or every day) but SOMETHING since about 18 weeks... It gets stronger by the day/week (like I said, it's not consistent). However, my DH was even able to feel him with me last night.
So if you are saying you have an anterior placenta, it shouldn't be hindering you and I don't know why he would have said that.
I have an anterior placenta, too. It took a while to start feeling kicks, but I think I'm beginning to feel movement (at 20 weeks). I don't mind the position at all, though. I think of it as an extra outer layer of protection for the baby.
I have an anterior placenta but started feeling flutters around 13-14 weeks. This is my second though. Baby moves like crazy now.
BFP #1 12/18/08 DD born 8/28/09
BFP#2 Due 7/17/12 MC 11/15/11 at 5 weeks..We have an Angel looking over us.

Another anterior placenta here. I've felt slight flutters here and there, hoping they get stronger soon.
ETA: They gave me a guess as to the sex at 13 weeks, and every appointment since have seen the same thing. I don't know why he's telling you it will make it hard to determine the sex.
