I was trying to make a clicky poll, but it wouldn't let me get past the "write a new post" page....hmmm.
Anyways, I was out with a friend at the zoo this week and her son dropped his paci on the ground and she put it in her mouth and then gave it back to him. I was thinking I just couldn't do this! I pesonally feel it's one thing for a paci to hit the ground at my house and pop it back in. But the zoo ground? I wouldn't want that in my own mouth, let alone DS's!
So what do you do when the paci hits the ground/ floor? Give it back, clean it, get a new one?
Re: When the paci hits the floor...
I definitely would not do this at the zoo, or anywhere but our own house. I have done it if the paci lands with the sucky part up, if it's down I'll get him a new one or wash the one he's got.
At this point we're really just using pacis in the crib at night, though.

Sometimes I suck it "clean" and give it back, sometimes I rinse it off with water. In public the first choice is to dig out the spare, but there have been days that despite a paci clip we went through both spares. Guess it really comes down to how desperate we are, and what we have with us.
I probably wouldn't think twice about a friend doing what yours did.

This. If I'm desperate enough (which I often am if DD is tired and in a bad mood) she gets the paci that fell on the floor. If she isn't going too crazy it gets wiped off with the paci wipes first. This is only the case if I've ran out of multiple pacis or didn't carry my diaper bag in though.
i'd wipe it clean if we were at the zoo.
at home i don't, we have a dog and our floors are inevitably dirty, especially on a rainy day. considering DS likes to suck on the carpet, wood floor and rugs... i have no issues with sticking it back in his mouth. we do this at other people's houses too. out in public as a general rule i wipe it.
When we are at home and she drops it I will wash it with hot water if the part she puts in her mouth lands face down. If not, I'll just give it right back to her.
In public, I keep it clipped to her and I always wipe it clean with a paci wipe if she drops it or if it rubs against something like a door, table or shopping cart.
