1st Trimester

7 1/2 weeks and showing... hard tummy, twins?

I'm 7 1/2 weeks along and my belly is sticking out a bit. I was not super skinny before pregnancy (5'8" about 150lbs). Today I was filling on my bump, which is impossible to suck in already, and realized that it is pretty hard. I'm guessing that this is my uterus but I read that it wouldn't be expanding upward till later in pregnancy?

Has anyone else experienced this, this early? Does this mean I might be having twins?

  • It is just bloat.  This will show where your uterus is at different stages of pregnancy.

Its just bloat. It's fun to think it's an actual bump but it's not.

  • The progesterone naturally produced by your body during pregnancy slow down your digestive system significantly.  I know it feels like you look completely different, but you probably aren't noticeably different to outsiders.

So, in short, it's more than likely too much taco bell as opposed to twins.

  • As everyone else said it is probably just bloat. Even if it was twins, so early along you would not even be able to see the bump because your uterus is still very small.

  • Even with my second pregnancy actually being twins, it was second tri before I started showing. I'd say that's bloat.

  • I remember all the firsts with my first son.... how excited you must be!  At this point your uterus is still very small and deep down below your pelvic bone... you will eventually feel it popping out above your pelvic area but not for another 7 or 8 weeks..... but I know the excitement you must be feeling.  I just want to say a bazillion congratulations for this wonderful gift of life you've been given.  many many blessings over you and baby and baby's daddy.

  • You're just showing bloat. Your uterus isn't even past your pubic bone yet. I'm looking at my 8 week u/s pic compared to my 20 week pic and the baby is huge now and I'm still barely showing.

  • I wish I had a bump, I just look pudgy after I eat. I'm putting off taking bump pictures until I actually get one because I don't want people to think my pudge is bump.
