DD was 5 weeks early, but (thank God) perfectly healthy. I get really annoyed when people hear this and say things like "Your Dr probably had your due date wrong". I charted and planned and know the exact date and time that I conceived my daughter. Of course this isn't info I share with people, but it still offends me that they can't just appreciate how incredibly fortunate we are that she was healthy instead of being like "Oh, you just had it wrong". Ugh.
Re: Pretermers
No kidding! People care too much about the nonsense stuff. She's healthy and happy. I never understand why people try and calculate when other people have sex. It's creepy and weird to me!
I didn't have a pretermer. DS was late with no signs of hoping to get out. However this topic kinda made me mad with my doctor though. DH and I were TTC for a long time. We had just decided to take a break and I KNOW we only DTD once in that time frame I got pregnant. Yet each time my doctor made the comment "you're probably just off in your dates". UGH! Tell me I'm measuring big, it's looking like I'm going to have a big baby, etc. DON'T tell me I don't know the date when I claim to. YOU WEREN'T THERE!
Sorry to vent on your vent... But I get it.
I didn't have a pre-term either, but that would def frustrate me as well! Like you would choose to say your baby was early. psh.
We had an emergency C after 31 hours of labor and DS wouldn't start breathing and had to be rushed away and resuscitated. Thank goodness he was absolutley perfect after all that! I just don't like it when people that went natural judge me. To each his own, but my son might not be alive without modern technology. I just don't like it when they side eye me because "drugs are bad." Everyone doesn't always get a choice in how and when their little ones are brought into this world.
DS was 4 weeks early and no one has ever said that to me. He was a NICU baby so that is probably why.
If someone did say that to me I don't think I'd get offended personally. He actually acted more like a 34-35 weeker b/c of all my complications prevented him from thriving in the womb so it was a blessing I went in to labor so early, even though he did have to go to the NICU.
BFP #2: 8.31.16 Dx w/ GD @ 28w DD Born @ 36w: 4.21.17
That would annoy me too. Luckily we never had that with either kids. With DD my water broke at 33 weeks and I was in the hospital for a week before being induced. With DS I went to the hospital at 36 weeks due to non stop contractions and was induced the next morning.
I think people knew our dates were correct though as I was on Clomid both times so we knew almost the exact date!
Charlotte was born at 36w1d. I know the exact date that she was conceived. We weren't charting but sex was very scarce in those days and we had sex one time that month and not at all the month before.
Thankfully, she came out perfectly healthy. She was tiny and obviously early but you wouldn't know it by looking at her now.
In the beginning, everybody assumed we just had our dates off. But I guess it's worn off now since I don't hear about it anymore.
Fastest year of my life.
