anyone have Invisalign? {or had previous pregnancy?}

Hi all!

I got Invisalign the day before my BFP! I have been really sick {mild hyperemesis}  and have had a hard time wearing my aligners. Every time I put them in it gags me to say the least. I wear them every night, all night & try so hard to keep them in during the day but find myself going hours without! Any insight/advice/what worked for you would be greatly appreciated! TIA!

  • I don't have an Invisalign but I wear a similar retainer at night (post braces).  It does kind of gag me now to have something in my mouth but if find that sucking on a candy helps me concentrate on something other than this thing on my teeth.  Eventually I get over it.  I don't know if you can suck on a sugar free candy or something during the day to help keep your mind off of it.

  • i have invisalign...i was on my 2nd to last trays when i got my bfp...

    i'm currently wearing my last set of trays before my refinements come in (hopefully soon!)

     it hasn't been so bad for me, probably because i've had them for about a year now, so i'm used to taking them in and out...

    however, in the morning, when i felt most sick, taking them out didn't help much....and luckily, i've been able to get them out in time so i didn't have to throw up wearing them...because that's the worst.....

    i've been wearing them less than the 20 hours my dentist has said...however, i've been wearing the same set of trays for the last 4 weeks..and counting, so, i don't think my progress will regress really.....and i've been not flossing/brushing after every time i eat...i was always really good about it, but now i'm hungry more often and i can't ignore it like i used to....so sometimes i'll just floss and put 'em back in.......but it's getting annoying...

    if you can't keep them in for the full 20-22 hours, then you'll just have to wear them longer than the 14 days....i'd talk to your provider and see if you can't modify yourwearing schedule until you're feeling better.....

     at least i've been used to only drinking water for the last year or so..makes it easier for me to stay hydrated now...

    good luck!
