bloody show or from internal exam?

I had my 39 week internal exam yesterday. I've never had any spotting from an exam before. This afternoon I went to the bathroom and there was a dark reddish-brown glob on the toilet paper and nothing else. I haven't seen anything else this entire pregnancy except that, no other spotting, nothing. Is that my bloody show and if so does it have any indication as to when I may go into labor?

I bleed a lot after my internal yesterday, so it's really hard to say.

I didn't really bleed at all. I just had that small dark red-brown glob but no blood anywhere else.

I haven't had any spotting from the internal exams so far.

I had some blood in my discharge after my last internal. I'd say it's probably just cervical irritation.

I had dark brown/red spotting after my 38 wk internal exam and after my "false alarm" exam at the hospital. Unfortunately that was over the course of the past week and a half.

I've had both the spotting you described as well as heavier bleeding after internals. The first few I had I didn't bleed at all, the last 2 I spotted with 1, then the other one had heavier bleeding.

I think I'm confused because haven't had any spotting, just that one blob that one time. Oh well, I'm sure it doesn't really mean much anyway.

I haven't been on here much but I thought I'd jump in.

I lost my mucus plug last night and had my (almost) 39 wk appointment yesterday at which time they stripped my membranes. My guess is, you probably lost part of your mucus plug yesterday. It can fall about over a few days or in one large piece. I had thought it had come out before but last night there was no question once I saw what came out of my body that this was the real deal. For me, it was probably about 2 tablespoons worth, which seems like a lot but I am not sure if it is or not. My OB told me when they do internals that sometimes it loosens things up. I hope this means for both of us that things are heading in the right directions but some people can lose this and not go into labor on their own. Good Luck and hope this helps some...
