Is something going around??

Earlier this week Gavin had run a low grade fever a couple days, I'd give him tylenol & it would break. He's been fussy here & there, but then be his normal self playing, walking, & babbling. I brushed it off to teething.

Fast forward to last night, Gage started getting fussy at dinner & I noticed he had goose bumps & was cold. I picked him up to hold him & he was fine till we got home. I noticed that his head & limbs were normal temp but his body was very warm. I took his temp & it was 101.3. He wanted to be held & he kept moaning/fussing. I gave him tylenol & put in a call to the pedi. There was an hour wait just for a nurse to call us back!! He finally calmed down a bit so I gave him to DH so that I could get comfy for bed. During this time, he threw up his whole bottle & just started crying. Poor baby...  The nurse finally called & told us everything I figured, but said that it could be a virus or something that he ate. They have their 12 month well visit on Tuesday. I just hope whatever this is that it passes soon.

Two weekends ago, Abigail had a rash, no fever or anything. Ended up getting fifths disease. This past Monday, Avery got sent home from daycare with a fever and had a fever until Thursday night. Rotating tyelnol and motrin every three hours per pedi orders and it never got below 102. They said it was just viral.

TBH, I think there is always something going around. I don't know if your twins are the same but mine seem to have a bit of a lower immune system than other babies, plus they're in daycare so they always seem to have a cold or something.

I was told in one of my birth classes that babies born by c section have a lower immune system. Maybe that has something to do with it?

  • TBH they've never been sick. My mom watches them so they aren't around anyone other than their 2 cousins for a couple days. I highly doubt it has anything to do with me having a C-section. They are very healthy & have been since the day they were born.

  • Max had this almost word for word, except the vomiting, but that could've been from getting all worked up.  We went to the dr. and she said she saw 3 babies that day that had the exact same thing.  It was just a virus and it was gone by the 4th day.  Whatever it is, I hope they feel better soon.
  • A lot of kids in my town have had hand, foot & mouth disease as of late.   My son had a fever starting last Tuesday that lasted until the following Saturday.  No vomitting, etc. but it sucked!  He was fussy and irritable for 4 days and I was pulling my hair out trying to make him feel comfortable.  Sounds like a viral bug they picked up somewhere.  I always tell myself, this too shall pass.

  • I cancelled DDs party because she came down with something. Next day I felt stupid because she had two new teeth. The following  day DS came down with the same thing. We went DDs 12 month appt and pedi said 102 was too high for a teething fever. My kids are also only around me/ DH as I stay at home. A mom friend of mine said her kids had the same thing. Both my kids were delivered naturally and my DD seems to be more susceptible to colds. Also only DD was breasfed, which is supposed to give them a better immune system. Go figure.
    This is my AE.
