Sleeping on tummy - for us moms!

I feel like I haven't been able to sleep on my stomach for months -- first with the preg belly and now my full breasts.  It is so much more comfortable for me usually and my preferred position.  But when I try to sleep on my stomach I worry that I'm squishing my breasts and will cause a clogged duct or something. Am I crazy??

Re: Sleeping on tummy - for us moms!

  • I love sleeping on my tummy and have since I delivered DS.  Now that my breasts get full really quickly, I prop a pillow under my armpits and this helps give me a cushion.  I also have a pillow top on my mattress which means I'm not on something firm.

I've had a few clogged ducts, but nothing that wasn't fixable first thing in the morning.  You aren't crazy but I'd still try sleeping on your tummy if it's comfy!!!

  • I've been sleeping on my tummy since the night after I delivered DD and have yet to have a clogged duct. I know back in the day they used to tell you not to or it would ruin your supply, but I'm keeping up just fine with an 8 month old and restfully sleeping on my stomach every chance I get!

  • Aside from the discomfort of painful nipples and full breasts in the early months, sleeping on your stomach is fine!  I often do.
  • me too. sucks.

believe it or not- it helps me when i shove a thin pillow under my tummy.

i wasn't worried about a clogged duct- the girls are just WAY too full during hte night- it just isn't comfy.
