So June 14th it was decided I would be induced the following morning at 37 weeks exactly for pre-e. That night was fun between contractions and being nauseous I got no sleep. I arrived at the hospital at 6:35 am. All checkin and hooked up to the monitors by 7. IV was a little tricky I have think skin and small veins. After on failed attempt we decided just to put it in my left hand and boy was it bloody. It looked like I was stabbed on my sheets. Doc was in at 7:15 to check me and figure out the best route. Since I was only 2cm, thick, and still high it was decided to start with just pitocin. After he left I met my new nurses. The main was Shelley and a girl finishing up her last day of orientation. Pitocin was going by 8. By then my fianc?e was arriving to check in on me before going home and getting some sleep(he works third shift) and bring my mom her work computer. After that it was just a waiting game for awhile. At 11 nurse the newer nurse checked me and said I was a stretchy 3/4 cm. I asked for a dose of fentoyl so I could relax and try to sleep since contractions we're starting to get more intense. At this time they set up the room for delivery making it all feel so real. I would be meeting my baby that day. My only wish was I didn't progress to fast since Kenny was still at home sleeping. Around 12 I got my second dose of fentenol and went ahead and ordered the epi. I was tired and really wanted to be able to get some sleep if possible(I never did).Around 12:30 the anastesialogist came in to put the epi in. THis guy wasn't so great at his job like the ones I had with my other two pregnancies. He stuck me 4 times before getting it in and I should of said something then but one side instantly got tingly while the other took a long time to go numb(not a good sign its going to work very well in the end). By 1 it was in and at that time the nurse checked me again since she had to put in my catheter and said I was at a 5. When she was done the doctor was in to check on me and break my water. He said I was still a 3 and still on teh thick side (this is why you want a nurse who has been around checking you). He went ahead and broke my water which it trickled out baby head moved a little lower. At this time the doctor also put in an internal monitor to track my contractions so we could get an more accurate reading on them since I wasn't progressing as fast as they had thought I would. At 240 the newer nurse said I was at 6/7 cm so called Kenny told him he should wake up and start heading up. At 4 they gave me another dose through my epi since it was not working and I was feeling a ton of pain and pressure. At this time the other nurse Shelley took things back over since the newer nurse shift was over. Kenny got up there around 4:30 and laid down on the couch. Around 5 I started really complaining of pain so the nurse sat me up a little see if that would relive some of the pain. It didn't but the rest of the fluid gushed out and the pressure slowly got worse. Nurse checked me said I was at 7 cm. Doctor came in at 6 and checked said I was at 7/8 and decided to stretch my cervix to see if that would speed things up. At this time the pain was bad. In between contractions I was shaking. At 615 my mom decided to call teh nurse back in because I looked like I was in to much pain and the pressure was getting worse. The nurse came in immediately checked me I was at 9 cm. She decided to have me do 3 small pushes to see if my cervix would pull back while pushing it did and baby's head was right there. THe nurse paged for the doctor, paramedic and the nurse that assists the doctor after the baby is out. But the pressure was bad and I was shaking badly. The nurse scrubbed up and came to help hold my legs. I kept asking if the doctor was coming because she was coming I couldn't stop her and the nurse told me just to breath it was okay doctor was coming. I guess the whole time nurse had been holding the baby's head in as she got into position to catch her while holding my leg. At 6:28 pm Charlotte June came into this world all on her own. Her cord was wrapped around once so daddy didn't get to cut the cord. Due to her coming out so quickly the gunk in her lungs didn't get pushed out like it would if you had to push for a bit so nurse had to really clean her out and stimulate her to cry so she'd cough it out. But her cry was glorious. Doctor arrived 10 minutes after Charlotte did. He looked so disappointed and a little bit disgusted that he missed it. I needed no stitches and Charlotte was perfect just a petite little thing. She weighed in at 6 lbs 8 oz(nursery said 7 oz) she was 19 1/2 inches. She scored 9 on both her apgars and latched on like a champ right away. Here are a few pictures of her arrival.
Sorry for all the errors nursing a baby while typing is not easy.
