Wednesday night my 11 month old woke with a fever (101.7) which pretty much continued into Thursday and finally broke last night. I called the pediatrician who said it could be teething or a virus and I didn't need to bring him in unless it lasted 3+ days.
Like I said, the fever is gone today but DS is still very fussy and drooling A TON. I mean it just pours out of his mouth and we are all soaked. I didn't think he'd be teething because he has all 8 front teeth so the molars are supposed to be next (and I think it's a little early for those) and I don't think I feel/see anything that looks like budding teeth, but I can't figure out why he'd be so fussy and drool-y if it weren't that? Any other thoughts? Or do you think it could be the molars?

DD had these symptoms and then a day or 2 later she started getting a rash. Ended up being hand, foot, and mouth (virus). I had confused it with teething for the first couple of days, too.
...or it could be teething!
This exactly. DS2 has his 8 front teeth and I was convinced it was molars but when the fever continued I took him in to see the pedi on Tuesday. She looked in his mouth and could see the ulcers in his throat. A day later he started to get the rash. Yesterday DS1 got it too.
Hmm now I'm worried. He hasn't wanted to eat much at all so I've been thinking his throat was sore... And it seems like he isn't wanting to chew because he'll eat a little applesauce but no finger foods. But his fever has been gone completely today. I tried to look in his mouth but can't get a good view :-/ I guess we'll see how he is tomorrow. Thanks for the advice!
