I just found out a friend of mine had her babies via emergency C-S at 24
weeks. She had twins. They live too far away for me to visit or
physically help with her toddler, but I am wondering what you all
appreciated and or needed while your babies were in the NICU. She
doesn't have family in the area, although I am sure they will visit and I
know she has a great network of friends an hour or so away. I was
planning on sending some adorable outfits and a gift certificate to a
restaurant when the babies were due in October, but now I am wondering
what would be most helpful. What did you need?
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!

Re: Micro-preemies and gift suggestions (XP: Preemie board)
I did not have a micro preemie, but I had a preemie. I would say GC to area restaurants and such. You eat on the go and it can get very expensive after a ahwhle. We spent 25 days and that is nothing compaired to what some of our preemie moms stayed.
Clothes are good too! Epecially because I'm sure she does not have preemie clothes.
K was in the NICU for 9 days and the hospital I delivered at allowed me to board there so I didn't have to come and go, however, I had to provide all my own food. Gift cards to places like McDonalds, Wendys, or espcially Starbucks would have been wonderful. Hubby went home each night so he could sleep so gas cards would have been great too.
Another option might be for a housecleaning service to come and clean the house or do laundry or a meal delivery service.
iTunes cards would have been great too. The credits can be used to download a movie, music or a book.
