1st Trimester

Watery discharge, no smell, Help!

Hi, I'm 8 weeks pregnant and 3 days. This is my first pregnancy so I have nooo idea what's normal and whats not. At first I had very slight discharge was whitish and milky (doctor said that it's normal) well now as of last night the discharge has increased and has turned watery with no smell and down below has been slightly irritated (red and a wee bit painful) ever since. My doctor has done some tests and all are negative for bacteria, yeast, and stds. I'm thinking that maybe since I have gotten wetter that maybe the irritation is because of that. Kind of like a diaper rash? I was wondering if that's normal? I apologize for the TMI. Eeek. Tongue Tied

  • I think it's pretty common to have increased discharge while pregnant.  Mine is watery as well--not thick.  If you are chafing due to the increased wetness I would wear a panty liner or something just to keep things nice and dry.  Your body does some crazy things while pregnant but sounds like you don't have anything to be concerned about.  Also just like with diaper rash---desitin or any other cream can help with that type of chafing as well!

  • Yep, I wear panty liners daily otherwise I chafe.

  • It sounds normal to me. Increased discharge is common with pregnancy. Mine has varied in quantity and thickness but at times it has been watery.

  • It's totally normal. You're going to experience a lot of gross things during your journey. This is just one of them.

  • you are not TTC anymore so do not be analyzing your CM.  You will see a lot of strange things coming up... Unless its yellow and smelly, don't worry about it.

The redness could be from increased bloodflow to the area.  Also nothing to worry about.

  • The discharge will get worse as your pregnancy goes on. Go buy some pantyliners.

It's gross but normal.  I find mine is worse in the morning and also if I've been sitting all day when I stand up I can feel it--  Like PPs said, use the liners because you can change them and stay dry.

  • Get used to  wearing panty liners! I had the same problem, and it only gets worse. I had to wear them every single day the whole pregnancy, otherwise there was serious chaffing. I know its gross, but you will get used to it.

Why change the habit now that you are pregnant?
