Mother wants to put my kitten down

Apparently he's lost a lot of weight and is peeing blood. The kicker- he hasn't even turned 3 yet. And this is my third cat in 3 years that she has told me-not asked- that she's putting down. On top of that, get ready; when my sister called she said, and I QUOTE,"And to make thing worse I think my boyfriend is mad at me" and went on to tell me every detail for twenty flipping minutes about how he was accused of stealing and her bio mom played into it, yada yada. She talked for a grand total of 25 minutes, 3 of that about my kitty Juju. I can't believe them! When I called my mom to get the scoop she told me she was at work and can't talk. Ugh. I truly can't stand them sometimes. Totally unfair.

  • I sound a bit like a 15-year old. Sorry. Just upset.

  • it sounds like your kitten is very sick.  has she taken it to the vet to see whats wrong?  what did the vet say?  if she doesn't take it to the vet, why don't you bring it to live with you?  as for her telling you (not asking you) that she is putting that cat down - if it lives with her, its her cat, and her responsibility to make good health care decisions for the cat - not yours.  not sure what the rant about your sis is about.

i'm sorry to hear that the cat is so sick.  i hope theres something the vet can do!

  • This is so sad.  She shouldnt be able to get anymore animals!!! I hope you take the cat to the vet to get it some medication, and let it stay with you.  Sounds like your mom doesn't know how to take care of animals.

  • Why does your mom have "your" kitten? Just curious.

  • Sounds like a bladder infection to me. Of course it could be much more serious kidney issues. Has she at least taken the cat to the vet? It's totally possible that the problem could be fixed with $20 worth of antibiotics. You may want to suggest that she not get any more animals if she's going to put them down as soon as they get sick. That's pretty irresponsible.

  • I HATE it when people see animals as disposable.  Your mother is irresponsible if she hasn't taken the cat to the vet.  It's obviously suffering.
